Many corporate email services allow you to include requests for the recipient to read an email and return a notification to the sender. Unfortunately, Gmail still doesn't include this handy feature by default, but you can fix the problem with a dedicated Chrome extension.
MailTrack is a small and very simple extension for Chrome that adds to the Gmail interface the checkmarks that we are used to in modern instant messengers, indicating successful delivery and reading of a letter.
The method that MailTrack uses to get a read confirmation is pretty standard. The letter includes a tiny image that can be easily tracked and reported to the sender. The method is bad in that it does not work in cases where the recipient's mailer blocks the display of images in the body of the message.
In addition to the fact that it has been read, MailTrack determines the type of device from which the message was first opened.
After installing the extension, an attentive user will notice that a small signature has begun to appear in the emails being sent, unobtrusively advertising MailTrack. You can remove it manually before sending each letter, but it is much more convenient to completely disable this option. To do this, go here and uncheck the Signature item.
