The Speedafari extension will speed up the loading of sites in mobile Safari, which will come in handy on slow Internet connections and save mobile traffic.
To activate Speedafari, add the widget to the Today tab of the Action Center and enable the extension under Content Blocking Rules in Safari preferences. Next, select the degree of acceleration in the widget (low, medium or high) and click Speed Up Safari.
Tests
We ran tests and measured how many seconds it takes to load some popular sites. Tests were carried out on a Wi-Fi connection with a Medium acceleration rate.
Site | Loading time without extension, s | Load time with extension, s | Growth, % |
Lifehacker.ru | 8, 4 | 2, 7 | 67, 8 |
Google.com | 2, 9 | 1, 6 | 44, 8 |
Producthunt.com | 5, 9 | 3, 7 | 37, 3 |
Instagram.com | 12 | Didn't boot | − |
Medium.com | 6 | 3, 8 | 36, 7 |

As you can see, the increase in website loading speed is noticeable, but some pages did not load at all. We also noticed from experience that some page elements (for example, Lifehacker's hamburger menu) do not work when using Speedafari. Therefore, the extension's algorithm cannot be called ideal.
Outcomes
Pros:
- flexible configuration of download acceleration;
- noticeable increase in the speed of loading web pages.
Minuses:
- some pages do not load at all;
- individual elements on the pages are inactive.
Speedafari can be considered a successful application: in general, it does its job well, really increasing the speed of loading web pages and saving mobile traffic.
