If you think Facebook is a waste of time, but you can't help yourself, try the Detox extension. It replaces feed posts with Hacker News, Design News, Dribbble, Product Hunt and more.

Everyone understands that you can make your Facebook feed useful. Subscribe to interesting sites, remove unnecessary friends' posts and junk content from it. Unfortunately, very few people do this. Detox is a brutal counterpart to the actions I described above. You toggle the slider and your Facebook feed is gone. But there are useful materials from other sites.

The Detox slider appears on the line above the news feed. After enabling it, all posts disappear, and their place is taken by materials from Dribbble, Hacker News, Mashable, GitHub, The Next Web, The Verge and other sites.

Sources are highlighted in the line on the left, but this is only a small part of them. In the settings, they are all sorted by categories: development, news, inspiration, design, and there are a dozen of them in each category.

In the same settings, you can enable auto-activation. The developers make a good argument: Detox is most useful during business hours, so in order not to be distracted by junk content, you need to enable this feature. After selecting the working days and hours, the extension will start automatically at the specified time.

The Detox extension is available in Safari, Chrome and Firefox versions for free.
