Copy handwritten text directly to your computer, search for incomprehensible terms and learn foreign words.
Among the many Google apps that we undeservedly ignore is Lens, or Google Lens. This program is able to recognize text and various objects caught in the smartphone camera. Here are some ways to use it.
1. Copy handwritten text from paper to your computer
Open Google Lens and point your camera at handwritten or typed text on a notepad or on a piece of paper. The app will let you highlight it. Then click "Copy to Computer" and the text will be recognized and then copied to your PC's clipboard.
To do this, you need to have Google Chrome installed and logged in with the same account as on your smartphone.
2. Search for the meanings of foreign words and their pronunciation
Google Lens is capable of recognizing about 100 languages. Point the camera at text in an unfamiliar language, select it and click Translate.
You can also choose the "Listen" option. The application will speak the word with a voice. This will be helpful if you are learning a new language.
3. Search for definitions of unknown terms
If you are reading some complex book and find a tricky term there, it is not necessary to retype it on a smartphone keyboard to search. Select a word and swipe up from the bottom, and you will see the result for it in Google.
4. Scanning business cards
There is no need to manually enter addresses and phone numbers from business cards into contacts. Point the camera with the enabled Google Lens to the business card, and the application will offer to save the data to the notebook automatically.
