A new way of confirming contactless payments has come to Russia - with the help of a pre-made selfie. The new payment system SWiP, launched on the territory of Russia together with VisionLabs, does not require any action from the user when paying: all checks are carried out on the side of the service.
Developers from VisionLabs have created an advanced face recognition system for SWiP. The general concept of the payment system is as follows: the user specifies his payment cards in mobile applications once, and also takes a selfie and enters it into the database.
Further, it is assumed that a person comes to a point of sale authorized by the payment system, and there a special camera scans his face, compares the data with the previously taken selfie and confirms or rejects the payment.
The money is debited automatically, the user does not even need to take out the smartphone. There is also a more traditional way of confirming payment - through scanning.
According to the developers, VisionLabs LUNA technology is responsible for recognizing real human faces. It will prevent the substitution of a real face for a photograph. It is planned to add such cameras to 250 public points of sale in Moscow and St. Petersburg. A full launch is expected in early June. Now only a few establishments and shops in these two cities are working in test mode with SWiP support.
Among other features of the technology, it is worth noting a loyalty program with cashback and constant discounts from service partners. You can download SWiP applications for Android and iOS on Google Play and App Store, respectively.
