The plot tells about Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix). He moonlights as a clown and dreams of becoming a stand-up comedian. But the hero suffers from uncontrollable fits of laughter, which makes life very difficult for him and those around him. Due to the piled-up problems, he becomes more and more aggressive.
The director Todd Phillips, famous for his comedy franchise "The Hangover in Vegas", managed to amazingly present auteur cinema in the style of "Taxi Driver" or "The King of Comedy" by Martin Scorsese in the shell of a mass comic-book film.
"Joker" came out very emotional, and each viewer found something of his own in it. The film contains the story of a lonely, persecuted person, and a story about mental illness that others do not want to notice, and even the theme of the stratification of society.
As a result, the film grossed over a billion dollars at the box office, having recouped production costs at least 10 times. And Joaquin Phoenix is considered the main contender for the Oscar for Best Actor.
