Ghostbusters' headquarters, Carrie Bradshaw's home, Tiffany's store, the Plaza Hotel, where Kevin McCallister enjoyed luxury, and other iconic locations.
New York is a big filming location. Everywhere you look - a frame from the film. But, when you live in this city, it is not always possible to pay attention to the details. That is why I decided to find the most interesting locations from popular films in order to find out how it was and what became of it.
The addresses are given in English so that you can easily use Google Maps and, if you wish, find these places on your own.
Time to start the time machine. Go!
Ghostbusters
1. Columbus Circle

Address: 848 Columbus Circle.
If you thought this character was a symbol of the Michelin company named Bibendum, then you were wrong. The marshmallow man who marched down Broadway is the symbol of a fictional New York marshmallow company.
2. Ghostbusters headquarters

Address: 14 North Moore Street.
The active fire station, where our heroes' base was located, is located in TriBeCa (short for Triangle Below Canal Street), which is bounded by Canal Street, West Street and Broadway. Since the beginning of the 2000s, the area has become famous thanks to the annual Tribeca Film Festival held on its territory.
Only a white banner with the logo of the hunters above the gate reminds of the "mystical" past of the building.
3. City Hall metro station

Address: Broadway and Murray Street.
After New York experienced an invasion of otherworldly forces in 1984, the station remained almost unchanged. Unless green ghosts fly out of there anymore.
Sex and the city

Address: 66 Perry Street.
One of the main characters of the New York saga lived in the Upper East Side, but used the porch of a four-story townhouse in the West Village for filming. Crowds flock here every day, and the chain in front of the porch reminds fans of the show that ordinary people live here.
5. New York Public Library

Address: 476 5th Avenue.
The library has appeared in the same Ghostbusters and the 2008 film Sex and the City.
The two stone lions on the stairs were created by sculptor Edward Clark Potter. They were first named Leo Astor and Leo Lenox after the founders of the library. But in 1930, the mayor of New York gave the statues the nicknames "Patience" and "Fortitude", believing that these qualities would help the residents of the city overcome the Great Depression.
This is one of the largest libraries in the world, which is not a shame to spend an hour of your time on, especially since the entrance is free.
Leon
6. House of Matilda

Address: Park Avenue and 96th Street.
Matilda's house is not so famous, but I, as a fan of the work of Luc Besson, could not miss this courtyard. It was not possible to enter the entrance with beautiful staircases, but through the transparent door you can see the mosaic floor.

By the way, the corner grocery has been closed since 2015.
7. Street from the episode with the move of Leon and Matilda

Address: 85 Delancey Street.
The shot, where the characters are walking down the street, caused me a lot of doubts. If you focus on the address plate, there can be no mistake. Wikipedia confirms that Allen Street has not been reconstructed, much less has it been moved. Nevertheless, in the frame, Williamsburg Bridge seems much closer than in reality. Camera effect or director's trick?
Breakfast at Tiffany's
8. Shop "Tiffany"

Address: 727 5th Avenue.
One of the most expensive streets in the world, or "millionaire mile" - Fifth Avenue.
Audrey Hepburn in "Breakfast at Tiffany's" at the beginning of the film stood at a window in the middle of a deserted street. Of course, the area was closed for filming - usually it is not crowded here, especially in the summer season. Tourists in a frenzy buy everything in their path, while looking at the Empire State Building at the corner of 34th Street, the New York Public Library between 40th and 42nd Streets, Rockefeller Center and St. Patrick's Cathedral.

A month ago, the bronze figure of the Atlantean over the doors of the jewelry boutique was closed with a huge clock, and commercials flashed on the scoreboard.
Home Alone 2: Lost in New York
9. Hotel "Plaza"

Address: 768 5th Avenue.
Take your time to escape from the noisy tourists who crowd the Tiffany's. Walk 100 meters and you will find a large hotel around the corner.

On the ground floor is The Palm Court, the finest afternoon tea restaurant in New York for over 100 years. The clinking of spoons and forks, conversations with light music soar to the stained glass dome, which resembles the original of 1907. Kevin McCallister was a true connoisseur of luxury, despite his young age.
10. Empire Diner Restaurant
Shot from the movie "Home Alone 2"
Address: 210 10th Avenue.
The iconic diner has been serving visitors since 1946. It also attracts tourists and locals with authentic American cuisine and retro immersion. You are unlikely to see Santa handing out flyers, but you can find new graffiti on the wall right above the restaurant.
11. Radio City Music Hall

Address: 1260 6th Avenue.
The most famous theater and concert hall in the world, the construction of which began back in 1929. Its elevator system was so advanced that the US Navy used an identical hydraulic system during the construction of aircraft carriers during World War II.
Spiderman

What do ghostbusters and Peter Parker have in common? Looking closely, I noticed the buildings of the university, where I have been studying for the third month. It's amazing: every day to go to such places and not guess how many cinema events happened on the territory of one of the oldest educational institutions in the United States.
I spent one day and walked 20 kilometers in order to see all these places with my own eyes. An incomparable feeling - as if you are falling into the past. Matilda runs by with a flower in a pot, an uncaught ghost hovers between the shelves in the library, Kevin is driving somewhere in a limousine with a box of pizza, and Audrey Hepburn examines decorations in the middle of Fifth Avenue.
I wish everyone to return to childhood and believe that cinema is a part of our real world. Near you, at arm's length.
