What is Poparazzi

Poparazzi is a new social network in which the user profile consists of photos - just like on Instagram. But its uniqueness lies in the fact that your friends publish pictures with you for you, but you cannot upload your own image yourself.

Already on the day of release, the application hit the top of the American App Store due to active promotion on TikTok and the waiting queue that has already become customary for all new products. Free registration is now open at Poparazzi, but the client is available only on iOS - the Android version is still in development.

What is the difference between the new social network and others

Poparazzi's unusual concept is designed to make user profiles more honest and closer to real life, in order to show people without fake and narcissism. For this, the developers prohibit the use of a selfie camera, as well as any processing of images before publication.

You cannot leave comments under the posts. There are no text descriptions and multi-storey hashtags either. And you can react to the publication with only a few emojis. In addition, Poparazzi does not have such a metric inherent in all social networks as the number of subscribers. Only the counter of views of photos with you and their total number in the profile is available.

How to use Poparazzi

Installation and registration

The initial setup procedure is no different from other modern applications. After installation, binding a phone number and adding a name, Poparazzi will ask for access to the camera, contacts and notifications, and also offer to send invitations to several friends.

Photo publication

To add a picture, you need to switch to the center tab and press the shutter button. If you take several frames, animation will be immediately assembled from them. Next, you need to indicate the nickname of the person who appeared in the photo, and tap on the Post.

After that, the friend will receive a notification, and your picture will appear in their profile. The photo will also appear in the main feed for all general subscribers.

Adding Friends

To invite a friend, tap the Share Invites button and select the recipient from the standard Share menu. The link can be forwarded in one of the installed instant messengers or simply copied and sent in any other application.

In addition, the social network itself searches for the profiles of your acquaintances based on the list of contacts and shows them to you on the Search and Activity tabs. In both cases, it is enough to click Invite, and the person will receive an invitation with a link to Poparazzi.

Deleting a photo

If you don't like a photo posted by a friend, you can easily delete it. To do this, go to the photo, open the menu by the ellipsis icon and tap Delete.

Limiting confidentiality

By default, everyone you follow can publish your pictures. It is not possible to fine-tune this parameter at the moment. You can only, on the contrary, allow any users of the social network to add images with you. The corresponding option is called Allow pops from and can be found in the settings. To get there, click on the gear icon in your profile.

You can also complain about the user for inappropriate content or completely block it, thus excluding the publication of pictures with you and any communication within the application. Both functions are available through the person's profile - Report and Block, respectively.

Will Poparazzi be the new Instagram

The ambitious plans of the developers and the great interest from the audience now do not guarantee the success of the new product. This is clearly seen in the example of Clubhouse, which, after the first hype with invitations, few people remember.

The idea of the creators of the paparazzi for each other is uniquely interesting and deserves attention, but how viable this idea will be, only time will tell. Who knows if users in pursuit of perfect profiles will start deleting all the frames they don't like? Or ask your friends to post specially selected photos?

The problem of interference with privacy also raises many questions. The ability to upload other people's photos is easy to use for bullying. The developers declare that in case of publishing content of a sexual nature, the author can be complained about and he will be banned forever. But will this make it easier for the victim, whose photo will be put on public display? Most likely, it will not do without scandals.
