During your fall cool holiday, keep watering to a minimum. It is enough to moisten the soil every few weeks, when the plant begins to wrinkle slightly from lack of moisture. Water liberally during flowering to keep the soil slightly damp but not waterlogged. The rest of the time, it is enough to moisten a couple of times a week so that the earthy clod has time to dry out from above.

Avoid overflowing or turning the soil into dust from complete drying. When a plant lacks water, it shrivels and wilts. But with the resumption of irrigation, it quickly regains its former appearance. If you leave the Decembrist without moisture and further, he will die.

The plant also wilts from the overflow. If the soil in the pot has turned into a swamp, get the Decembrist. Gently remove some of the soil, remove rotten roots and dry the rest with paper towels or newspapers. Then return to the pot and add the earth.

Repot the plant every two to three years. The best time for this is early spring.

Do not do it more often, the Schlumberger does not grow too quickly. To renew the soil without replanting, you can partially replace it. To do this, loosen the soil from above in the pot and carefully remove the top layer - about one and a half to two centimeters, no more. Top up with fresh soil and tamp lightly.

Choose a pot not too large, literally a centimeter and a half wider than before. The small volume is sufficient for the Schlumbergera root system.

Use cactus soil. Add sand, perlite or vermiculite to it - about a quarter of the total. Lay 2-3 centimeters of expanded clay drainage at the bottom.

It is better to prune the plant in spring or early summer.

Use fertilizer for cacti or flowering plants, or rather alternate between them. Make the concentration several times less than indicated on the label of the product.
