Video lectures, training webinars, podcasts, interviews … They can be a lot of benefits, or they can be a waste of time. You never know. Previously, because of this, I did not like the video format. But I changed my mind. And all thanks to this little life hack.

Watch videos like a real life hacker!

Mumbling and stammering presenters, for two hours "giving birth" to their thought - goodbye!

Now only information, a lot of information … a stormy FLOW!

What do I suggest? Speed up

In 2014, I watched the video only in accelerated playback:

  • in English - with an acceleration of 1, 5 times;
  • in Russian - with an acceleration of 1, 8–2, 5 times.

Before you start throwing rotten stuff at me, pay attention to HOW MUCH time you save.

Up to 60%! From an average webinar, that's over an hour!

How it looks

Well, "one and a half" or "two and a half" - all this does not mean anything. Let me just show you what it looks like. I myself will act as the "mumbled host":

Yes, the last video seems too fast. But believe my experience, this is just a matter of habit. If you look at a maximum speed of at least 10 minutes, then the brain will adapt and everything is OK.

And it depends on the speaker. Some people speak very slowly.

How to set it up

First for the popular free VLC player:

  1. Downloading VLC.
  2. Install.
  3. And then just press the "[" and "]" buttons to make it faster or slower by 10%.

And now for Youtube

It's even easier here:

Youtube in accelerated mode
Youtube in accelerated mode

As you can see, the maximum acceleration is twice. This is almost always enough.

Total

I saved over 20 hours in 2014. Out of the blue. Not bad in my opinion!
