If there is no time for a diet and a gym, but you need to fit into a dress or jeans, try wrapping yourself in plastic and covering yourself with a blanket. The wrap will relieve you of swelling and reduce it by a couple of centimeters.
Do's and Don'ts to Wrap
Typically, the mixtures are applied to the legs, abdomen and upper arms - areas that are most often affected by swelling and fatty deposits.
It is highly undesirable to cover the neck, shoulders, chest with a film: the delicate skin of these areas requires delicate care.
How wraps work
Remove excess water
When wrapping, you cover problem areas with a special compound and wrap with plastic wrap. The result is a greenhouse effect: the temperature of the skin rises, the pores open and active sweating begins. Thus, the body gets rid of excess fluid, and you lose several hundred grams in one procedure. The effect will not be long lasting. You can support it by doing wraps in courses: every other day for two weeks or every 3-4 days for a month.
Accelerate metabolism
Cold wraps cause the body to waste extra calories in heating.
Tighten the skin
Moisturizing components of the mixture actively nourish problem areas of the body. And the skin saturated with moisture becomes smoother and more elastic, acquires an even color. To consolidate the effect, after wrapping, lightly massage the skin with your hands or a washcloth in the shower and apply the cream.
The wraps will relieve swelling, moisturize the skin and help you lose weight. But without diet and exercise, you will not be able to lose weight much.
9 homemade wrap recipes
Hot wraps
- Mustard honey. Combine 2 tablespoons of mustard (you can use mustard powder diluted to the consistency of sour cream) with 2-3 tablespoons of honey. Stir the mixture and apply a thin layer to the skin. Be careful: this wrap noticeably warms the body, it should not be kept longer than 30 minutes.
- Honey and salt. Mix 3 tablespoons of honey with 2 teaspoons of fine salt and apply on the body for 50–70 minutes. If you take a thicker blanket during the procedure, sweating will be maximized.
- Pepper cinnamon. Combine 3 tablespoons of ground black pepper, 3 tablespoons of ground cinnamon and 6 tablespoons of vegetable oil. Mix thoroughly and apply in a thick layer to problem areas. Keep on the body for up to 60 minutes.
Cold wraps
- Acetic. Dilute 1: 3 table vinegar or apple cider vinegar with water. Soak gauze bandages or waffle towels in the solution. Wrap them around the body and fix the top with foil for 1, 5-2 hours. This wrap actively removes fluid from the body, so do not forget to place a bottle of water nearby.
- Clay. Stir the clay powder with water to the consistency of a paste and apply on the body for 30-60 minutes. There are many types of clay, you can choose any. To increase skin elasticity and hydration, blue, black or pink are suitable.
- Mint. Add 2-5 drops of peppermint oil to 6 tablespoons of green clay. Apply the mixture on the buttocks and thighs (mint is very cooling, and therefore it is advisable not to touch the sensitive abdomen) and leave for 30-60 minutes.
Anti-cellulite wraps
- Honey and milk. Mix 5 tablespoons of milk powder with 2-3 tablespoons of liquid honey. If the mixture is thicker than sour cream, add warm water. Apply the composition to problem areas, cover them with a film and leave for 60-90 minutes. It's okay if you lengthen the treatment time a little: this rich moisturizing composition will not harm the skin.
- Chocolate. Dilute 5–6 tablespoons of cocoa powder (it is better to take it without additives) with warm water or milk until the consistency of sour cream. Leave the composition on your body for 50–70 minutes and enjoy the rich chocolate aroma.
- Algal. It is this wrap that is most often advised in beauty salons, but it can also be done at home. Buy dry kelp or fucus from the pharmacy. Pour hot water over a couple tablespoons of seaweed and leave to swell for half an hour. Then gently apply the mass to the problem areas, cover with foil and rest for 30-60 minutes.
How to do a wrap at home
Before wrapping, the skin must be cleansed and warmed to remove dead cells and open pores. Take a hot shower and scrub the problem areas of your body. You can make your own scrub using ground coffee, salt, or sugar. Add some regular shower gel to the dry mixture and massage your stomach, legs, and arms in a circular motion.
Now apply the wrap mixture to the skin and wrap the body with a film (regular food is suitable).
Before and after the procedure, it is advisable not to eat for 1, 5 hours. At least heavy food. But you need to drink a lot to avoid dehydration.
And now you can relax: wrap yourself in a towel so as not to stain anything, and crawl under a warm blanket for 30–90 minutes, depending on the composition of the mixture.
When the time is up, gently unwind the plastic and take a warm shower. To enhance the effect, massage the skin with a hard brush or use an anti-cellulite cream.
Remember: you cannot exercise while wrapping. This can cause heatstroke! Weakness, dizziness or a strong increase in heart rate is a reason to stop the procedure immediately.
When not to do wraps
- If the skin has sores or irritations. Wait for them to heal.
- If you are allergic to the components of the mixture. Before the procedure, check the composition at the bend of the elbow or under the knee. If within a few hours nothing turns red and inflamed, feel free to do a wrap. If not, try a different recipe.
- During pregnancy and lactation, as well as with varicose veins, hypertension, heart and kidney disease.
- With inflammatory diseases, colds and in the first days of the menstrual cycle: the body temperature is already increased, additional heating will overload the body.
