I continue to prepare for the adidas Urban Tri and share my impressions of this challenging yet fun process. Now I have one more workout in my piggy bank - running.
The first step to falling in love with sports
Running is great and healthy. It has a beneficial effect on the cardiovascular and respiratory systems, strengthens the musculoskeletal system, and speeds up metabolism. The latter is what is needed for those who are losing weight, because the accelerated metabolism is maintained not only during training, but also for some time after it.
Sometimes you see unprepared girls who run with all their might without a warm-up and get tired half to death at the first training session. The only thing that is spinning in my head at this moment: "She came to training for the first and last time." This is most often the case.
Another thing is group classes with a trainer, like on Urban Tri. It all started with a warm-up, and it was much longer and more varied than I was used to. Squats, kicks, push-ups, burpees, lunges.
Then a warm-up in motion - all the exercises familiar from school training: running with a high hip lift, with straight legs, canter, cross step … By the end of the warm-up, the whole group was already sweating.
I have never neglected a warm-up before, always thoroughly warmed up my knees and feet, did inclines. But compared to this warm-up, my usual five minutes is some kind of lazy stirring.
Already warmed up, we went to the stadium with a light run.
I'll tell you a little about the group. I thought that there would be only physically fit people who have been going to the gym or running for a long time. In fact, very different girls came to training: some were prepared, others were taking their first steps in sports.
It is always pleasant for me to look at people who decide to start exercising, for the first time they come to the gym or get out to the stadium: they take the first step towards loving sports and pumping their body. Each of us creates himself, changes not only the body, but also the character.
In this workout, all the girls, regardless of preparation, did the exercises and ran to the end. It's very cool and always cheers me up.
Another reason to get better
To swing, we ran a kilometer across the stadium at an easy pace, and then the coach gave the task to accelerate. And here I once again appreciated the benefits of group lessons.
The task was this: to run a hundred meters at maximum speed. But how do you know what your top speed is? Maybe someone is used to giving all his best in training and not feeling sorry for himself, but personally, it is very difficult for me to find my limit if I am not competing with anyone.
The competitive spirit of the lesson is exactly what makes you squeeze the maximum, keep up with the rest and keep running even when you would have stopped long ago, if you were alone in the stadium.
A group of girls running alongside acts better than a coach who shouts at you: “Come on, you can do more and better!”. The coach is worth it, how does he know what you are capable of?
We ran at speed in pairs or groups of 3-4 people, and I did my best to overtake the girl who was running next to me. It was great, only very hot.
When we caught our breath after the speed race, there was a hitch - 500 meters across the stadium, and then stretching and a long-awaited shade.
What a bliss - after training under the scorching sun, sit in the shade on the grass, take off your sneakers and stretch all the clogged muscles. We rested and stretched the muscles of the hips, adductors, back - we did everything to feel great later.
Despite the stretch, in the morning my legs and back ached. I love that muscle sensation because it is a sign of progress. Only by overcoming oneself at each workout, one can achieve some kind of forward movement. And doing it together is much better than alone, when you still feel sorry for yourself.
Several new lessons
After this workout, I got a little more experience in running, so I want to share with you the lessons that I learned myself.
- Consider the weather … When you run under the scorching sun, you start to worry about your health. Therefore, if it is hot and sunny outside, take a hat.
- Stock up on water!Some girls came without water and I think they regretted it a lot. At least I went for a drink every time I accelerated.
- Be sure to warm up and stretch at the end of your workout.… I liked everything: the warm-up, after which there were no unpleasant sensations or stiffness in movements, and, of course, the hitch. Stretching clogged muscles, feeling like you did a great workout - what could be better?
- Train together … This is probably the main advice for today. Find a friend or acquaintance who will agree to run with you (if you are new, there will be a chance to learn a lot and make a good friend). Better yet, come to Urban Tri workouts. There are many girls with different levels of training, who are united by the desire to become better, faster, stronger and more beautiful.
The workout turned out to be really positive - with the pleasure of running, a good program and a warm atmosphere.
I feel like Urban Tri is something completely new. Workouts for those who are tired of the usual loads like fitness or home exercises with dumbbells.
First, it's helpful. Instead of one type of load, you get three at once. I attended a running training session, and next time I will try a complex one, with all kinds of loads. There will be less running, but right after the run we will improve our cycling skills (moreover, to the music!) And after that we will cool off in the pool. Should be just great.
Secondly, it's interesting. You train with others and strive to match. In my opinion, this is the best motivation.
Thirdly, it is available for any girl. Both in time and in load. I was convinced of the latter on my first running workout.
