All applications and services work only with files, so if you are going to extract sound from some online video, you first have to download it to your device. Lifehacker wrote in detail how to do this.

How to extract audio from video online

Go to the site and click "Open Video" to download the file. Select a sound format to save and click on the "Extract Sound" button.

In a few seconds, a link to download the audio file will appear, as well as buttons for saving to Google Drive or Dropbox.

How to extract audio from a video on an Android smartphone

Install and run Timbre application.

Click the Video to audio button in the Video section and load the source file by selecting one of the sources.

Specify the format and bit rate for the extracted audio, and then click "Convert".

At the end of the process, the audio file will appear in the menu on the Completed tab.

How to extract audio from video on iPhone

Download and launch MP3 Converter app.

Click the "+" button and import videos from Gallery, iCloud or otherwise.

Tap the preview of the downloaded file and select Convert from the context menu.

Click Default Mode. If you need to set the audio parameters, select Advanced Mode. Conversion will start.

The finished file will appear on the Converted tab, from where you can listen to it, edit it or open it in another application.

How to get audio out of a video on Windows

Download and install a free media player. Launch the program and go to the menu "Media" → "Convert / Save …" or just use the shortcut Ctrl + R.

Click "Add", specify the path to the video and click on the "Convert / Save" button.

Select the Audio - MP3 profile.

If necessary, click the wrench icon and set the bitrate and other encoding settings.

Specify the location to save the audio file by clicking "Browse" and click on the "Start" button.

The conversion progress will be displayed in the player window, and the finished file will appear in the selected folder.

How to extract audio from video on macOS

Open the video in the standard QuickTime Player. Go to File → Export As and select Audio Only.

Specify a name and location for the export file, and then click Save.
