Wish bank: what it is and how to make it

What is a wish bank

It is a repository of cherished dreams, thoughts, feelings and memories. It is not known for certain who the idea of its creation belonged to. But, most likely, the inspiration was the children's book by Roald Dahl "BDV, or Big and Good Giant". In it, the giant, together with the girl Sophie, visits the Land of Dreams and shows her his collection of good dreams, which he keeps in banks.

You can make such a magic jar together with your child and explain to him that everything is possible in the world, if you really want it. It's also a great way to spend your time and learn something new.

What can be collected in it

You can store in the bank of desires:

cherished dreams;
sweet memories;
description of interesting dreams;
joyful moments of the past day;
gratitude for something;
the successes of the past day;
favorite quotes or sayings;
goals and plans for the future.

You can make one common or several separate jars.

How to make a wish jar

What do you need

self-adhesive book cover or contact copy paper;
scissors;
permanent marker;
clean glass jar;
a small sponge for dishes;
gold paint (or any other paint of your choice);
ribbon for decoration;
colored paper or decorative scrapbooking paper.

How to do

Cut a few small squares out of a self-adhesive book cover or contact copy paper and fold them in half. On one side of the square, draw a half of the heart so that its middle is on the fold of the paper.

Then cut out the hearts and stick them onto the jar. Let your child get creative with this question. He can also choose the drawing himself. Instead of hearts, there can be stars, circles or stripes.

Use a dish sponge to completely cover the jar with paint. Wait for the paint to dry. Then carefully peel off the glued hearts. If you wish, you can tie a beautiful ribbon around the jar.

Help your child write down their cherished dreams on decorative paper, roll them into small tubes and put them inside. The Wish Bank is ready!
