Shot from the series "Game of Thrones", season 2, vogue.ua

This famous resort served as the backdrop for the acclaimed Game of Thrones. Filming took place here since the second season: Dubrovnik became King's Landing and parts of southern Essos and Westeros. After wandering the streets of the city, you can easily find the Jesuit Staircase and other places along which the naked Cersei made her way in one of the most scandalous scenes of the series. Not far from Dubrovnik, there is another location in which the Battle of the Blackwater was filmed - the fortress of St. Lawrence.

Dubrovnik is both a port and a resort. Almost everything in it deserves attention. Its buildings date back to the XIV century, and the city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. If you are in this wonderful place, be sure to visit the central Stradun Street, the Prince's Palace and the Franciscan Monastery. The old fortress wall, towering above the sea on a cliff, is worthy of special attention.

It is quite possible to get to the Hobbiton village from the fabulous country of Shire. It was from here that Frodo began his journey with the ring. The village was built for the filming of the first film, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. Now Hobbiton serves not only as a tourist attraction, but also as a residence for several thousand New Zealanders.

You can get to the village of hobbits either by yourself, by taking a bus in the nearest town of Matamata, or by buying tickets at any travel agency. In Hobbiton, you will find dozens of houses, orchards, a mill, a bridge, authentic signs with benches and many other fabulous details. Unfortunately, you cannot enter the houses. But you can feed the sheep that graze on the lawns and treat yourself to fabulous food at the Green Dragon pub.

A huge number of Soviet and Russian films were shot in the city of Sudak. Filmmakers could not ignore its main attraction - the Genoese Fortress. In this well-preserved medieval fortification, the film "Othello" was filmed in 1955, and in 1979 - the first Soviet action movie "Pirates of the XX century".

You can also see the walls of the fortification in such films as "Primordial Russia", "Umbrella for the newlyweds" (both were released in 1986), "Socrates" (1991). In 2005, the shooting of The Master and Margarita took place here: scenes with Herod in front of the castle and Golgotha, erected on a hill next to the fortress. At the moment, the last film shot in the fortress is "Viking" (2016).

Sudak is also famous for three temples of the 9th-13th centuries and incredibly picturesque views. The latter were repeatedly captured on their canvases by famous artists. By the way, every summer on the territory of the Genoese fortress an international knight's festival "Genoese helmet" takes place. We advise you to visit it to experience the atmosphere of the Middle Ages even better.

Emir Kusturica is an original director. He built Drvengrad not only for the filming of the film "Life as a Miracle", but also as an ethnographic settlement, designed to preserve the uniqueness of Serbian culture. As Kusturica himself admitted, he dreamed of creating a village after he lost his own city of Sarajevo.

Drvengrad is located near Zlatibor, in the village of Mechavnik, in the Mokra Gora National Park. The settlement consists of wooden houses, including a hotel and a restaurant serving local food. You will also find here streets with the names of famous people admired by the Emir, for example, Tarkovsky Street. There is also a wooden church and many funny details scattered throughout the village. That only there is a painted George Bush, sitting behind bars.

In Drvengrad there is the director's house. This village is small, but definitely worth a visit if you love Kusturica and the pastoral Serbian landscapes. The international festival of film and music "Kustendorf" is held annually in Drvengrad, and since 2013 the festival of Russian music "Bolshoi" is also held.

The first two seasons of the acclaimed TV series Twin Peaks were filmed in Washington State in Snokwellmey and North Bend. It's about half an hour from Seattle. By the third season of Twin Peaks, the number of locations had increased markedly, but some of the filming locations remained the same. The most notable attraction of the Twin Peaks prototype cities is Snokwellmee Falls. It is as much as 30 meters higher than Niagara Falls.

Another fan attraction is the Salish Lodge & Spa, where Agent Cooper lived. Of course, you can't leave these places without tasting cherry pie and coffee at the roadside diner Twede's Cafe (RR on the show). The cafe was opened in 1941. It still serves big burgers, fries and milkshakes, just like in good old Hollywood movies.

Getting to these places from Russia is not so easy, but true Lynch fans will not miss the opportunity to touch the mystery of the mystical town of Twin Peaks. Who knows, maybe someone will be able to see the ghost of Laura Palmer there or find the Black Lodge among the tall pines.

Medvezhyegorsk is located at the mouth of two rivers on the shore of Lake Onega. In this small town of Karelia, the films "Love and Doves" (the house of the protagonist's family was located on Verkhnyaya Street), "The Fourth Height", "And Trees Grow on the Stones" were filmed. The filming of a Russian action movie based on the famous book by Alexander Bushkov “Piranha Hunt” was also held here.

In Medvezhyegorsk and its environs, you can see the White Sea-Baltic Canal, the railway station of 1916 and two churches of the 17th-18th centuries: Peter and Paul in the village of Virma and Nikolskaya in the village of Munozero. Sandormokh is a tragically famous landmark of the city - one of the most massive places of executions of the NKVD.

There is incredibly beautiful nature in the vicinity of Medvezhyegorsk. Everyone should admire the local taiga forest with birches and tall pines at least once in their life.
