10. Gobots

  • USA, 1986.
  • Science fiction, thriller.
  • Duration: 75 minutes.
  • IMDb: 5, 8.

The full-length animated film continues the events of the famous animated series. A spaceship falls on the planet of the gobots. From its inhabitants, the Guardians learn about the distant planet Cortex, where the stone inhabitants fight a sinister invader. The Gobots decide to help the aliens, but their longtime opponents, the Renegades, interfere.

The animated series about the gobots came out in parallel with the more popular "Transformers", and their plots were very similar: in both projects, the main characters were robots that turn into vehicles. Having lost this competition, the Gobots remained almost forgotten. A full-length movie was launched to advertise a new line of toys - Rock Lords.

9. Astroboy

  • Hong Kong, USA, 2009.
  • Science fiction, action, comedy.
  • Duration: 94 minutes.
  • IMDb: 6, 2.

After the tragic death of his son, genius doctor Tenma from the metropolis Metro City decides to resurrect him in the form of a cyborg. Moreover, the boy himself for a long time does not even know about his artificial origin. But it is he who will have to fight the most dangerous robot capable of destroying the world.

The computer 3D cartoon is based on the famous Japanese manga, which has been out since 1952. In the 60s, a black and white anime series was filmed based on it, which was later redone twice in color. In the full-length adaptation of the character, they changed a little, making it more modern and understandable to the Western audience, but the basis of the story was left the same.

8. Robots

  • USA, 2005.
  • Science fiction, comedy, adventure.
  • Duration: 91 minutes.
  • IMDb: 6, 3.

Robot Cartoons: "Robots"

A young, talented and very kind robot Rodney wants to create devices that help others live. But he runs into a greedy and vicious designer from Bigveld Industries, who seized power and stopped producing the necessary parts.

Initially, the cartoon was conceived as a semblance of a classic musical, but then they abandoned the idea in favor of a more modern visual series. By the way, in the original, a lot of stars worked on the voice acting of "Robots": from Ewan McGregor to Robin Williams.

7. The next generation

  • China, Canada, USA, 2018.
  • Science fiction, action, adventure.
  • Duration: 106 minutes.
  • IMDb: 6, 6.

After losing her father, young May lives with a busy and busy mother. But one day the girl gets to the exhibition, where she accidentally activates a new generation military robot. Soon, very different characters become true friends.

The plot of the cartoon, of course, is very reminiscent of many similar projects (from the movie "Short Circuit" and ending with "City of Heroes"). But in the work of Netflix, they staked on the dynamics and the idea of taking over the world with technology. It turned out bright and very funny.

6. Treasure planet

  • USA, 2002.
  • Science fiction, adventure.
  • Duration: 95 minutes.
  • IMDb: 7, 2.

Energetic Jim works in his mother's tavern "Admiral Benbow". However, after the attack of space pirates, the institution burns down, and the hero gets a map leading to the planet of Captain Flint's treasures.

It is easy to see that the idea of the cartoon is taken from "Treasure Island" by Robert Louis Stevenson, but here it was adapted for a fantastic plot. At the same time, the authors combined classic animation with modern 3D technologies, which made the visual series very unusual. And I got into the collection of "Treasure Planet" because of the very charming companion of the protagonist - a robot named B. E. N., stupid and crazy, but very kind.

5. Transformers

  • USA, Japan, 1986.
  • Science fiction, action, adventure.
  • Duration: 84 minutes.
  • IMDb: 7, 3.
Cartoons about robots: "Transformers"
Cartoons about robots: "Transformers"

Good Autobots are trying to reclaim their home planet Cybertron from the Decepticons, but they are faced with a new enemy - the transformer planet Unicron, devouring worlds. Optimus Prime sends several friends to Earth for new energy cubes, but they are intercepted by the villain Megatron.

The large-scale cartoon directly continues the events of the first animated series about transformers. Moreover, the authors wanted to add globality to the plot: important characters even die here. Although, in fact, the studio just wanted to launch another series of toys, and therefore advertised new characters on the screen.

4. Futurama: Bender's Big Score

  • USA, 2007.
  • Science fiction, comedy.
  • Duration: 88 minutes.
  • IMDb: 7, 7.

Delivery company Planet Express is back to work and heading to the planet of nude beaches. There, vicious local residents find on Fry's buttocks the formula for time travel. Having subdued the robot Bender, they send him into the past, forcing him to rob the greatest burial places.

Bender is one of the most famous cartoon robots in the world. Of course, he turned out to be an important character not only in the animated series Futurama, but also in full-length stories.

3. City of Heroes

  • USA, 2014.
  • Science fiction, comedy, action.
  • Duration: 105 minutes.
  • IMDb: 7, 8.

Hiro Hamada, a genius teenager living in futuristic San Francisco, loves robot fighting. The talented hero is invited to enter the university ahead of schedule, but his plans are changed by a personal tragedy. And then Hiro decides to become the protector of the city.

The Oscar-winning cartoon, based on the Marvel comic series, required serious preparation from the authors. In developing the Baymax robot, they studied real state-of-the-art technology to create a soft vinyl machine that would be safe for humans. And when inventing microbots, the creators consulted with scientists, figuring out how plausible their ideas are.

2. Steel giant

  • USA, 1999.
  • Science fiction, action, adventure.
  • Duration: 86 minutes.
  • IMDb: 8, 0.

Robot Cartoons: "Steel Giant"

Not far from a quiet American town, an unidentified object falls from space. Soon, the teenager Hogarth Hughes finds a huge, but very kind robot that has flown from a distant galaxy. The heroes quickly become friends, but the government is already on the hunt for the giant.

In a strange way, the cartoon at one time failed at the box office, not collecting even half of the spent budget. However, over time, it acquired a truly cult status. In the plot, in addition to the classic story of friendship between two completely dissimilar creatures, more serious topics are raised. For example, mass hysteria during the Cold War.

1. WALL-E

  • USA, 2008.
  • Science fiction, adventure.
  • Duration: 98 minutes.
  • IMDb: 8, 4.

By the beginning of the XXII century, mankind completely littered the Earth, making it uninhabitable. Then people flew into space, leaving the cleaning robots WALL-I to clean the planet. After 700 years, only one of them remained in working order. The last WALL-I found emotions and, having met the research robot EVU, immediately fell in love.

The authors of the cartoon were able to make the funny robot-scavenger WALL-E incredibly charming, although they did not even try to bring its appearance closer to that of a human. The contrast of the protagonist with the stylish modern design of the EVA looks even brighter. Partly because of the amazing characters (and, of course, thanks to the important theme), the cartoon is very loved by the audience, and the experts noted it with numerous awards.
