11. The ugly duckling

  • Russia, 2010.
  • Fairy tale, musical.
  • Duration: 75 minutes.
  • IMDb: 6, 6.

The dark author's interpretation of the fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen from director Harry Bardeen takes only the basis from the original. In the poultry yard, a very unusual duckling hatches, which everyone despises because of its strange appearance. But then he is reborn into a beautiful swan.

The Ugly Duckling became the first full-length work for the famous animator. Moreover, for greater contrast, the author made the main character plasticine, while the rest of the animals are dolls with feathers. In this story, the director decided to tell about the xenophobia and cruelty of others. The cartoon was often criticized for being too gloomy and protracted, but at the same time Bardeen received many awards for this work.

10. Tyap-blooper, painters

  • Duration: 9 minutes.
  • IMDb: 6, 7.

The classic nine-minute short by the same Harry Bardeen tells about the workers named Tyap and Lyap. They have to paint the fence, but they do it somehow.

Even in short cartoons, Bardeen tried to add sociality. "Tyap-blooper, painters", obviously, makes fun of lazy people and bunglers. Although those who saw this cartoon in childhood, the strange plasticine animation is more likely to be remembered.

9. Escape from the chicken coop

  • UK, USA, France, 2000.
  • Comedy, adventure.
  • Duration: 84 minutes.
  • IMDb: 7, 0.

On the English farm, where timid chickens live, there are very strict procedures. The birds live in barracks and can end up in soup any day, and all attempts to escape end in failure. But one day the funny rooster Rocky gets to the farm. He claims to be able to fly and is ready to help the chickens escape.

This funny cartoon from the master of plasticine animation Nick Park parodies the classic film "The Great Escape" with Steve McQueen. Only here the plot was made more childish and funny. The combination of humor and unusual animation was very popular with the audience, and Escape from the Chicken Coop is still the highest grossing puppet cartoon of all time.

8. Brack

  • USSR, 1985.
  • Comedy.
  • Duration: 10 minutes.
  • IMDb: 7, 3.

Two boxers from different countries converge in the ring. Each of them is ready for dirty tricks for the sake of victory. As a result, even the judge gets it.

7. Sean the Sheep

  • Comedy, adventure.
  • Duration: 81 minutes.
  • IMDb: 7, 3.

In 2014, the authors decided to go beyond 10-minute episodes and released a full-length story. Here the owner of the farm was lost in the city, and the animals decided to go to save him.

6. Gray Wolf and Little Red Riding Hood

  • USSR, 1990.
  • Comedy, fairy tale.
  • Duration: 27 minutes.
  • IMDb: 7, 5.

One of the funniest interpretations of classic fairy tales. Little Red Riding Hood goes to Paris to see Grandma Teresa, singing a song on the way to the tune of "Moscow Nights". And the Wolf with iron teeth follows her, devouring Doctor Aibolit, Cheburashka with Gena the Crocodile and other fairy-tale characters along the way.

In contrast to other satirical and often gloomy works by Bardeen, this cartoon simply makes fun of popular paintings and songs - even the splash screen with the plasticine sculpture "Worker and Kolkhoz Woman" parodies the Mosfilm logo. And on the soundtrack you can hear both the Soviet "Oh, the viburnum is blooming" and Mack the Knife.

5. Puss in boots

  • USSR, 1981.
  • Comedy, fairy tale.
  • Duration: 9 minutes.
  • IMDb: 8, 2.

The plot retells the classic fable by Ivan Andreevich Krylov "The Crow and the Fox". Only the author gets a little confused, and the main character turns into a dog or a cow.

In 1981, Alexander Tatarsky released his first cartoon. It consisted of three short musical stories. But the last part, made in the form of plasticine animation, became the most famous. The music for this cartoon was written by Grigory Gladkov (not to be confused with Gennady Gladkov, the composer of The Bremen Town Musicians and The Blue Puppy) on the verses of Eduard Uspensky.

2. Wallace and Gromit - 2: The Wrong Pants

The first Nick Park cartoon from the Wallace and Gromit series was released in 1989, and subsequently the author has repeatedly turned to his favorite characters. In the third part, the already mentioned Shaun the lamb appeared. And later came the full-length "The Curse of the Werewolf Rabbit."

But still, the funniest is the half-hour episode "The Wrong Pants", which contains literally everything that this franchise is loved for: Wallace's inventions, an intricate plot and an incredible concentration of funny moments.

1. Last year's snow fell

Somehow the wife sent her husband for the Christmas tree on New Year's Eve. And he found a hare on the way and got into a fairy tale. And in general, a lot of strange things happened to the man. Only he never found the tree.

But then the plot was heavily reworked, adding even more absurd humor and references to various works. As a result, an amazingly funny story came out, which everyone is sure to revise on New Year's Eve.
