Think surfing is only available on an expensive vacation in Bali or California? But no! Russia is a huge country, we have plenty of seas and oceans, so if you want you can go surfing at least all year round.
Kamchatka: the Sea of Okhotsk and the Bering Sea, the Pacific Ocean
The beaches of the Kamchatka Territory are popular - in summer they are crowded here. However, they do not look like beaches in warm regions: there is no usual abundance of retail outlets and rental points, which means there is no excitement around them. Most come here to just relax on the beach and enjoy the wind blowing from the ocean. Not everyone dares to swim, because the water temperature rarely rises above 15 degrees even in summer. Therefore, there is a lot of space for surfers!
- Spots: Khalaktyrsky beach.
- Season: all year round, including winter surfing.

Vladivostok: Sea of Japan
Even residents of Vladivostok itself have not heard about many places suitable for surfing. Surfing is just gaining popularity here, and you can enjoy the pristine nature and secluded atmosphere. One of the stages of the Russian surfing championship is held here annually.
- Spots: Russky Island (Cape Akhlestyshev), Reinecke Island, bays and bays.
- Season: May - October.

St. Petersburg: Gulf of Finland and Lake Ladoga
Just an hour and a half drive from St. Petersburg there is an opportunity to go surfing. The waves are special here: they seem small from the shore, but this is a mistaken impression - it is quite possible to surf. The beaches are safe: sandy, suitable for beginners. True, in winter the reservoirs of the Leningrad Region are covered with ice.
- Spots: Cape Flotsky, the village of Solnechnoye, the city of Priozersk.
- Season: April - November, but sometimes the weather allows you to ride until the middle of winter.

Kaliningrad: Baltic Sea
In popularity among surfers in Russia, this place follows immediately after Kamchatka. There are all types of waves and many spots for different levels of training. The most stable waves are in Zelenogradsk, which is easily accessible from Kaliningrad even by public transport.
- Spots: Zelenogradsk, Rybachiy, Svetlogorsk, Khmelevka.
- Season: all year round.

Krasnodar Territory: Black Sea
Surfing in the Black Sea is very different from the ocean - it is more difficult. After all, the wave here is exclusively windy and much less predictable. But you can still catch it on storm days, give or take a couple of days. The surf season in the Black Sea falls during the winter months - an additional plus for those who miss the salt water in winter.
- Spots: Anapa, Sochi.
- Season: November - March.

Kuril Islands: Pacific Ocean
There is surfing in the Kuril Islands, and some more - the waves are sometimes even steeper than in Kamchatka! But getting to the place is difficult: you have to fly, go, take a ferry and hope that the weather will allow you to land at the planned place the first time. Of course, the Kuril Islands are not an option for beginners. But if you are attracted by the romance of uninhabited islands, then your dream can come true right here.
- Spots: Iturup island.
- Season: all year round.
Murmansk: Arctic Ocean
Surfing in Murmansk is the most extreme option. This is the real north! Last year, the participants of the project made a surf expedition to the village of Teriberka. It is worth watching the adventures of these desperate guys - and other surfing places will seem heavenly and quite affordable.
