Russian medicine can be not only ineffective, but also hazardous to health. Therefore, today we will talk about how, once in the hospital, get out of it without significant deterioration.
Unfortunately, the current state of Russian medicine is extremely deplorable. The ongoing reforms may not have hammered the last nail into the lid, but at least they have considerably undermined the once mighty well-oiled system. If earlier we were confident in the competence of the attending staff, then the latest news from the fields carries more and more information about medical errors and negligence. The state of medical institutions is alarming.
It is impossible to completely avoid contact with hospitals. If a disaster strikes, you need to make some effort and strictly follow simple rules. Otherwise, you can not only not recover, but also acquire other diseases, possibly much more serious.
Personal hygiene is the key to health
The toilet is a major hospital hazard. Almost any infectious disease can be obtained here. Everything that people can get sick with first of all accumulates in the toilet. There are also those caused primarily by rotaviruses, staphylococci, Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The chance of contracting them from the outside is quite low, and mortality due to certain health problems in patients is very high.
Also in hospitals there is a high chance of contracting hepatitis, tuberculosis and some types of pneumonia. Therefore, if you feel unwell, you must notify your doctor. A common cold in a hospital setting can be fatal.
In addition, you should often wash your hands (at least before every meal), face and rinse your nose. Hands and face - with antibacterial soap. Use disposable paper toilet seats and disposable towels. On arrival home, it will not be superfluous to carry out antibacterial treatment of personal belongings and clothes, even if you are visiting for the weekend, and take a shower using antibacterial soap. After all, you can not only get sick yourself, but also infect loved ones with weaker health.
Neighbor is both friend and foe
Of course, it's nice if good people turn out to be neighbors. But don't forget the first point of this article. Be wary of them. Everyone in the hospital is sick. Everyone has different immunities. Therefore, it is necessary to clearly separate personal belongings from public ones (the latter should be used carefully and only if necessary) and if there are visible symptoms of infectious diseases from neighbors, at least ask about the possibility of transferring to another ward. Doctors may well look at some sore in a person, which, even with the use of one washbasin, will pass to you.
You better overdo it
The burden on the medical staff is enormous. And there are more than enough nihilists among him (as elsewhere, but this is a separate conversation). Therefore, it is worth sticking pride deeper and complaining about all the available (real) reasons. A slight malaise against a background of serious illness may be the first sign of significant problems.
It will not be superfluous to remember that each department of the hospital is responsible for its own spectrum of diseases. If you have several of them, then there is a chance that the treatment will be carried out only one at a time. In the presence of chronic health problems, it is necessary to notify the attending physician about this, to carefully monitor the state of health. If you suspect an exacerbation or if you need additional help, ask for a doctor's call from a neighboring department. Don't ask - demand. Perhaps we will have to quarrel. It makes sense to contact the head of the department or the head physician. Rather, they are administrators and handle such problems.
If you go out, you won't prove it
Unfortunately, there is a lot of negligence and inattention on the part of doctors. If this suddenly happened, it is almost impossible to prove the guilt of the medical staff, because almost everything can be justified. Therefore, it is imperative to document the fact of violation or negligence and promptly, without delay, complain. First, go to the head physician, then to the regional department of the Ministry of Health (depending on the complexity of the situation). The complaint must be made before you leave the hospital. After that, all problems will be simply ignored, and it will be very difficult to prove anything.
The hotline numbers for filing a complaint are different for each region.
Little life hack: in case of a threat to complain to the ministry, most controversial situations are resolved without actually contacting the Ministry of Health by the head physician and local medical staff.
My tongue is my friend
It is worth asking if it is possible to carry out the treatment somehow else. Any therapy or surgery is carried out according to an average template, which may not suit you or turn out to be of lower quality than the alternative. Therefore, it is better to ask doctors and insist on their use when more acceptable treatment options are available. This is especially true for operations - they will always have time to cut. You may have to spend a lot of money to carry out alternative treatment or go to another clinic. But it's often worth it.
Do not be lazy to demand a detailed explanation: what is being treated, how it is being treated and why it is being treated that way. Recently, cases of outright refusal of medical staff to deal with certain categories of patients have become more frequent. At the same time, people who are able to live for some more time, abruptly pass into the category of hopeless ones and instantly burn out. Incorrectly selected and outdated methods of treatment are the scourge of Russian medicine.
Paid procedures are not a panacea, but a plus
Another stone in the garden of our medicine. Surprisingly, both free and paid clinics accept the same people. But the development of free institutions froze somewhere at the level of the 50s, and in a paid hospital or with a paid admission they can offer something more advanced. Who knows, perhaps these procedures will be more effective, although paid doctors need to be checked.
Yes, and one more thing: almost always in the department there are paid boxes for one or two people. At first glance, there is no great practical benefit from them. But, oddly enough, in many hospitals more attention is paid to patients lying in such wards.
