Two-Factor Authentication is an additional setting for profile security. To get into your account, you need to double-confirm that you are the owner and not a hacker. First, we enter the password, then the code sent to the mobile. Yes, it adds to the routine, but sleep will be calmer: your Instagram is definitely safe.

Two-factor authentication is not enabled by default and needs to be configured.

How to enable two-factor authentication on Instagram

Go to your profile by tapping on the avatar thumbnail in the lower right corner. Next, go to your account settings by tapping on the icon in the upper right corner.

Select the "Two-factor authentication" menu (located in the "Account" settings block) and enable the function.

If you have not linked a mobile phone number to your profile, the program will prompt you to do so. Enter the number and wait for the control SMS with a six-digit code (it can come within a few minutes). To complete the security settings, enter the password in the corresponding field.

After confirming the phone number, a page with backup codes will open. They can be used for the second stage of authentication, if you want to log into Instagram where there is no network, and will not be able to receive a new code via SMS.

Instagram will generate backup codes and save them to your smartphone as a screenshot as soon as you enable two-factor authentication.
