The internet is overwhelmed with data. Sometimes, in order to find what you want, you have to rummage through tons of information garbage. We are used to indiscriminately consuming unnecessary information. But in order to be happy, it is important to be able to select only useful information on the Internet and find time for digital detox.
The essence of digital detox is to re-experience the taste of real life by reducing the amount of information consumed on the Internet. Some programs provide for a complete phase-out of gadgets for a short time. Are you afraid you won't be able to live a day without a news feed? Then try these simple rules of digital detox. This is quite within the power of everyone.
Read what's really important to you
I stopped reading the news unconsciously. And so that unnecessary information does not catch the eye, got rid of unnecessary sites, leaving only those necessary for work and those whose content is truly interesting and useful. Be honest with yourself. And make a choice on what to spend your time and energy.
Limit the amount of information
Information is important to us, but its constant receipt is not a vital condition. And its excess, on the contrary, leads to dullness.
I have made it a rule to spend a certain amount of time every day without electronic devices. There are a lot of options for replacing gadgets: books, board games, a sports five-minute in the office, a conversation with loved ones about how your day and theirs went, breathing exercises, painting, and so on.
Concentrate on the action
Another rule that helped me get out of the vicious circle of information overdose: learn to focus on business, without being distracted by checking mail, instant messengers and social networks. Meditation and focusing techniques can help you do this.
Use your smartphone correctly
Install applications on your smartphone to restrict access to time devourers. For example, I just turn off using airplane mode.
Spend time without gadgets, walk more often
My colleagues and I participate in device-free meetings, workshops, and tourist trips out of town. I enjoy walking in the parks after work. I use every opportunity to get away from noisy and dusty Moscow. In winter I go to nearby cities, to Vladimir, for example, to ski resorts and so on. In the summer - by bus - to the Pirogovskoye reservoir or to Zelenograd on the Moskva River. There are a lot of options.
Always take short breaks from work
And the most important thing is to regularly take a break from working at the computer: squat, stretch, breathe deeply, walk around the office, go out onto the balcony, in the end … Take 10-15 minute breaks every hour.
I try to walk at least 5 km every day. And during working hours around 16:00 I do a little exercise: two sets of several pull-ups, two sets of 15-30 squats, stretch my arms and legs, jump. An energy boost for the rest of the day is guaranteed! There was no coffee or tea nearby.
Leave the city, where the phone cannot be picked up. Unplug your devices during rest and sleep. To live in the rhythm of the XXI century means to be able to organize your time with benefit.
Who will beat whom: will you defeat the devices or the devices will defeat you? The choice is yours.
