Traveling to distant planets, predicting crimes or total devastation - as the perspectives of humanity in the cinema show.
The creators of The 2001 Space Odyssey assumed that at the beginning of the 21st century, humanity would conquer distant planets. The movie "Back to the Future" told that by 2015 there will be self-tying sneakers and flying skateboards. And Blade Runner - that in 2019 there will be artificial replicants among us. All of these predictions turned out to be inaccurate, but there are many films that we have not yet lived to see the time of the action.

Thomas Anderson's life is divided into two parts. During the day he works in a regular office, and at night he turns into a hacker named Neo. But one day he learns that the whole world around him is just a computer simulation and that he will have to save people from the power of machines.
The Wachowski sisters showed one of the saddest prospects for the development of the world. In their plot, humanity began to play only the role of batteries that ensure the operation of machines.

- Duration: 169 minutes.
- IMDb: 8, 6.
Climate change is setting the earth on a drought, leading to a food crisis. To save humanity, a team of researchers is sent on a space journey to find a habitable planet.
The plot of Christopher Nolan quite realistically shows the near future: climate change can lead to an ecological disaster and threaten the very survival of mankind.
3. Alien

- IMDb: 8, 4.
The crew of the small space tug "Nostromo" receives a signal from the planet LV-426. The team believes that someone is asking for help. Having landed, they find an unknown and very dangerous life form there.
Ridley Scott's film has evolved into a whole franchise over time. And there, in the world of the future, they have already shown not only contact with alien life forms, but the creation of colonies in distant space and even entire planets set aside for prisons.
4. WALL-I
- USA, 2008.
- Science fiction, adventure, melodrama, comedy.
- Duration: 98 minutes.
- IMDb: 8, 4.
By the beginning of the XXII century, mankind completely littered the Earth with non-recyclable waste. Then people flew into space, leaving the cleaning robots WALL-E to clean the planet. But gradually they all broke down. After 700 years, the last WALL-E meets the research robot EVA and immediately falls in love with her.
This animated masterpiece from Pixar shows how reckless consumption and irresponsibility in waste recycling leads to, and also demonstrates the evolution of artificial intelligence, which can even develop empathy, becoming like a person.
5. She

- Melodrama, drama, fantasy.
- Duration: 126 minutes.
- IMDb: 8, 0.
The lonely writer Theodore acquires a new technical development - an operating system designed to help a person in all matters. Artificial intelligence takes the name Samantha and speaks in a female voice. And soon warm feelings arise between Theodore and the program.
Today, voice assistants like Siri or Alice are already very common, so the plot of Spike Jones' film seems realistic. As well as the fact that artificial intelligence cannot replace human communication.
6. Blade Runner 2049
- USA, UK, Canada, 2017.
- Science fiction, drama, thriller.
- Duration: 164 minutes.
- IMDb: 8, 0.
30 years after the events of Blade Runner, the replicant Kay is trying to investigate tangled cases, and at the same time, to understand his past. And only Rick Deckard, who disappeared many years ago, can help him in this.
The first film was set in November 2019. Fortunately, in reality, life turned out to be somewhat different than shown in the picture. In the sequel, director Denis Villeneuve suggests that by the middle of the 21st century, in addition to replicants indistinguishable from humans, there will also be holograms with artificial intelligence that can replace a housekeeper and even a loved one.
7.12 monkeys

Criminal James Cole is offered amnesty in exchange for a trip to the past. With the help of a time machine, he finds himself in 1990, where he must understand the reasons for the appearance of the virus.
In a fantasy film with Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt, they showed one of the main fears of humanity: a global pandemic that will lead to the extinction of civilization. It is not for nothing that now literally every few years the media are talking about a new dangerous virus.
8. Child of man

Former Marine Jake Sully, confined to a wheelchair, becomes a member of Project Avatar. Earthlings want to colonize the planet Pandora in order to extract a rare and very valuable mineral. But they are opposed by local residents of Na'vi.
James Cameron has repeatedly addressed the environmental theme in his films. In Avatar, people learned to fly to other planets, but still treat nature carelessly, destroying other worlds just like the Earth.
11. Mr. Nobody
- Belgium, Canada, France, USA, 2009.
- Drama, fantasy.
- Duration: 138 minutes.

118-year-old Nemo Nobody is the only mortal person at the end of the 21st century where people have overcome aging. He is living out his last days in the hospital, talking about his past. But often his words contradict each other, as if Mr. Nobody recalls the options for his own destiny.
Although this film is more philosophical than fantastic, it shows the victory of humanity over age, as well as a theme closer to the modern viewer - a reality show. Nemo is just becoming the star of one of these programs.
