You will need a minimum of tools and time. In the case of a sink, you can do with one adjustable wrench.
How to install a faucet on a sink
1. Prepare materials and tools
- Mixer with fasteners;
- 2 flexible liners;
- rags;
- masking tape;
- adjustable wrench.
2. Shut off the water
Before starting work, close the cold and hot water taps on the sink. If there is no separate shut-off valve on the device, shut off the water in the risers.
Place a clean cloth in the bowl to avoid damaging the cover from accidentally falling parts.
3. Remove the aerator
Remove the aerator from the spout so that it does not become clogged with rust and other possible contamination from the pipes. To do this, unscrew it counterclockwise with a plastic wrench from the kit or with a regular adjustable wrench.
The jaws of the metal wrench can scratch the faucet coating, so it is best to wrap them with masking tape or a rag.
4. Assemble the mixer
As a rule, the plumbing is supplied already assembled. If any of the elements are not connected, install them according to the instructions. Take the mounting pin from the kit and screw it clockwise until it stops into the hole of the corresponding diameter at the bottom of the mixer.
5. Connect flexible hoses
Attach the flexible hose fittings to the mixer by hand tightening them. Check beforehand that O-rings are installed at the ends of the threads. Do not tighten the fittings with a wrench - excessive force can damage the gaskets.
6. Reinstall the tap
To prevent water from flowing through the body, place the O-ring in the special groove in the base of the mixer.
Insert one flexible hose into the sink hole, and then the other. Place the tap in the designated place.
7. Fix the mixer
Move under the sink. Slide the rubber gasket and the crescent-shaped retaining washer over the stud. Screw on the nut from above and tighten it by hand, and then tighten with a socket wrench.
Make sure that the mixer is installed without distortion before final tightening.
8. Connect to the water supply
Now slide the union nuts of the flexible pipes onto the water inlet fittings or sink taps and tighten them by hand. Tighten the connections with a key, but not tightly - half a turn or a little more will be enough.
Do not mix up the hoses! According to the standard, hot water should be on the left, and cold water on the right.
9. Check the operation of the mixer
To check and flush the system from possible contamination, open the shut-off valves on the device or risers. Turn on the water and make sure that when you turn the tap, cold and hot flow as expected.
10. Install the aerator
Replace the nozzle by screwing it clockwise into the mixer by hand. Tighten the aerator just a little with a plastic wrench or a regular adjustable wrench. To avoid scratching the chrome plating, the key jaws can be wrapped with masking tape.
How to install a bath faucet
1. Prepare materials and tools
- Mixer;
- shower head with hose and bracket;
- eccentric couplings with gaskets;
- decorative rosettes;
- FUM-tape;
- dowels;
- silicone sealant;
- masking tape;
- wrenches 22 mm and 32 mm;
- adjustable wrench;
- level;
- roulette;
- pencil;
- drill;
- drills for ceramics and concrete.
2. Shut off the water
To get started, turn off the water supply in the house using taps on the hot and cold water risers. Then check that there is really nothing in the pipes.
3. Remove the aerator
Before installing the mixer, there may be rust and dirt in the pipes, which can clog the aerator mesh. Therefore, it is better to remove it: unscrew it with a special device from the kit or with an ordinary adjustable wrench, the jaws of which are wrapped in masking tape.
4. Try on the mixer
Take the eccentric couplers from the kit and screw them into the wall outlet. Wrap the fittings four to five turns so that the center-to-center distance is 150 mm.
Screw on the decorative rosettes on top, and then install the mixer and tighten the union nuts by hand. Make sure there is a couple of threads left between them and the covers.
Check with a bubble level whether the structure is level and, if necessary, correct its position by screwing or unscrewing the eccentrics. Measure the exact distance the couplings protrude from the wall and note it down.
5. Install the eccentrics
Disassemble the entire structure to assemble it completely with a thread seal. Wind five or six turns of FUM tape clockwise around the thin ends of the eccentrics. Screw the sleeves into the wall to the previously measured depth.
6. Seal the joints
To prevent water from getting into the gap between the eccentrics and the wall, fill it with silicone sealant. Dispense the correct amount from the tube and gently spread around the sleeves.
7. Install the mixer
Screw the decorative rosettes onto the eccentrics. Install gaskets in the union nuts of the valve, and then attach it to the couplings and tighten the nuts. First by hand, then with a spanner for about one turn. Check with a level that the mixer is installed horizontally.
Cover the jaws of the wrench with masking tape to avoid damaging the coating on the mixer nuts.
8. Attach the shower head
Place the gasket in the union nut of the hose and screw the part onto the corresponding fitting on the mixer. Attach the second, tapered end of the tube to the watering can, also not forgetting about the gasket.
9. Fix the bracket for the watering can
Consider how high the shower holder will be. Apply masking tape at this point, and then attach the bracket and mark the points for the mounting holes with a pencil.
Drill holes with a drill. First, with a drill for ceramics in a tile, and then with a drill for concrete - in the wall. Insert dowels into the holes and fix the holder with screws.
10. Check the operation of the mixer
Open the taps on the hot and cold water pipes. Make sure that the mixer works in all modes, including the shower.
11. Install the aerator
After a small amount of water has drained out, do not forget to replace the mixer head. Wrap the aerator by hand and tighten by 10–20 degrees using the special plastic wrench supplied. If there is no such tool, wrap the jaws of the adjustable wrench with masking tape and use it.
