But some things may well be stocked up for future use and hidden in the pantry - even after several years they will have nothing. The main thing is to comply with the storage conditions or keep them wrapped.
5 foods you can store for a lifetime
- Sugar. Will keep as long as you keep it in a cool, dry place (and away from ants).
- Honey. Although honey becomes sugar over time, this does not affect its suitability in any way. Due to the high content of fructose, glucose and sucrose, little moisture and low acidity, honey can be stored for a very long time and remain tasty. If the honey has crystallized, just keep it in a water bath.
- Vinegar. If the wine starts to taste like vinegar, throw it away immediately. But vinegar itself, even open, can be stored indefinitely.
- Soy sauce (covered). It does not deteriorate for years if you follow the storage conditions: put the closed sauce in a glass bottle in a cool dark place. It can also be stored in a plastic bag, but then the sauce can get an unpleasant aftertaste. But, once you open the sauce, you have 3 years left to use it.
- White rice (packed). Whole grain unprocessed rice (brown or black) can only be stored for 6 months. But white polished can be stocked for future use.
