Step-by-step instructions explaining all the nuances.
Things to Know Before Uploading Videos to YouTube
To upload a video, you will first need to create a YouTube channel. Read about how to do this in a separate instruction.
The video itself should also be prepared: cut or, conversely, add some fragments in the video editor, add music. You need to be careful with the latter. If you use copyrighted audio, your content may be blocked.
YouTube supports formats such as MOV, MPEG4, MP4, AVI WMV, MPEGPS, FLV, 3GP, WebM, DNxHR, ProRes, CineForm, and HEVC (H.265). If the video has a specific extension, you first have to convert it to a suitable format using a video converter.
Another important point is the length of the video. If your YouTube account is not verified, the video cannot be longer than 15 minutes. To remove the restriction, you need to bind the phone number and enter the code from the SMS. You can go through the verification procedure right when uploading the video: a link to the corresponding page will appear at the right time.
Remember, whether the video is vertical or horizontal, it doesn't matter at all. YouTube will automatically adjust itself to fit the video so that the content takes up the maximum screen real estate. Therefore, if the video has a non-standard aspect ratio, you do not need to add black bars on the sides.
How to upload YouTube videos from computer
Go to the site, click on your avatar, and then on the item "Creative Studio".
Click on the download icon and select or drag and drop a video into the window.
Provide a title for the video, add a description and tags. Click Next.
Choose one of the automatically generated previews or upload your own picture. If the channel has playlists, you can immediately put the video into one of them.
Specify the target audience and, if necessary, set the age restrictions.
If necessary, add hints with links to other videos and a splash screen.
If no violations were found, click Next. Otherwise, you will first need to resolve all controversial issues.
If you want to publish the video right away, select Save or Publish, Open Access and click Publish. You can also schedule the publication for a specific time or restrict access to it. If you check "Premiere now", subscribers will receive a notification and will be able to watch the video in real time.
After that, the video will appear on the channel. For greater coverage, you can immediately share the link to the video on social networks from the loading screen.
