Sooner or later, the free space in any smartphone comes to an end. In this case, you should destroy all trash in order to clear the device memory. Do not forget about a few secret places where you should definitely look during the cleaning process.
For quick cleaning of Android devices, there are many automatic cleaners, the best of which is considered to be SD Maid. However, even he does not dare to manage in those places where user data is stored. Therefore, you have to work a little yourself.
1. Delete cached maps
Most modern mapping programs are able to save maps for later offline access. If you downloaded a map of an entire country before vacation, then it can take hundreds of megabytes or even gigabytes of precious space. Not always, after a vacation, we remember the need to delete this data.
To remove offline maps in Google Maps, open the "Downloaded areas" section, then find the areas you don't need in the list and get rid of them by clicking on the "Remove" button.
2. Erase saved playlists
The advent of popular streaming services has eliminated the need to store music on our device. You can just launch your favorite player, choose one of hundreds of playlists and listen.
However, not everyone knows that almost all online players still save the tracks you listen to on the device in case you want to listen to them again. Moreover, they do this in the background and in such remote directories of the file system that it is rather difficult to find them. Hundreds of megabytes are eaten this way.
If you use the Google Music service, then I advise you to open the settings and find there a button to delete all cached music. You can also transfer saved tracks to an SD card if there is still enough space on it.
3. Get rid of unnecessary photos and videos
Due to the fact that smartphones' cameras are becoming more powerful every year, the photos taken by them take up more and more space in the device's memory. Today, photography lovers can easily snap several gigabytes of pictures in just one eventful evening.
The most convenient solution to this problem is to automatically upload photos and videos to one of the cloud storages. If you use Google Photo as such, be sure to periodically delete copies of your photos from your device.
Open the Google Photo settings for this and select the "Free up space on the device" option, then confirm your choice.
4. Delete browser cache
If you are actively surfing from a mobile device, then the browser cache can grow to a significant size. In the struggle for free space, every megabyte counts, so let's not neglect this opportunity either.
The most correct way to clean it is, of course, to find a special button in the browser settings that is responsible for deleting files saved by the browser. In Google Chrome, it is located along the path "Personal data" → "Clear history". Do not forget to also look into your downloads folder and clear it of all downloads that you no longer need.
5. Get rid of forgotten games
There are so many interesting games in the Google Play catalog that it is difficult not to install a couple in the hope that someday there will be time to play them. But time, as a rule, does not appear, and games continue to take up space on a smartphone or tablet.
You can safely get rid of those toys that you have not started playing or in which you have temporarily lost interest. If you have the Google Play Games program installed, then it will save all the names of the games installed earlier on your devices and even the game achievements in each of them. Take a vacation or retire, then re-install and continue playing right where you left off.
