“It’s not important,” “I’ll dial you,” “instead,” and other ugly words and combinations that a literate person should definitely refuse.
Russian speakers fall into two categories: those who use strange and ridiculous expressions, and those who tend not to. Often people of the first category can even be very smart and intelligent, and it is all the more offensive to hear from them inappropriate vocabulary.
What words am I talking about? Of course, not about obscene ones - they need to write a separate article about them. I'm talking about words that are literary in themselves, but can be combined into some kind of stupid constructions. They were the ones who got into this black list.
1. Delicious (when not about food)
“Delicious prices”, “tasty offer”. Smells like cheap marketing, don't you think? In order not to look stupid, I recommend that you avoid applying this epithet to inedible objects.
2. From the word completely
I sincerely don't understand the purpose of this expression. When I hear it from someone, it seems that the person wants to draw additional attention to his remark, or something. Just look: "There was no salt from the word in the house at all." How much is superfluous!
3. Well, such
Which? No comments.
4. Doesn't matter
Not an expression, but a mutant. There is a collection of unrelated words. It is much more correct to use "not important" or "not so important".
5. I heard you
Every time and in any context, this phrase is extremely annoying. Moreover, it never implies any action or attention to what you said. It is better to replace it with "thanks, I understood everything!"
6. There is a place to be
In short: either we use "takes place" or "has to be." Not a hybrid!
7. Substitute
Disgusting-sounding word. A reduced substitute for the literary and neat "instead of".
8. "For" in the meaning of "about"
"Talk about the situation", "I miss you." In the Ukrainian language this is considered the norm, but for some reason such a lexical phenomenon migrated into Russian and violated all possible grammatical norms.
9. From Moscow (from Ryazan, from Voronezh)
Let's remember: if we are talking about the origin of a person and where he came from, we use the preposition "from". For example, "a friend from Tver."
10. As they say
Ugly and unnecessary lexical misunderstanding with a taste of folk sayings. Forget urgently!
11. It's all the same to something
It is necessary to decide: either “all the same”, or “don't give a damn about something”. The combination of these phrases sounds very ridiculous.
12. In principle
This expression can and should be omitted in 100% of cases when it is used as an introductory one.
13. Really
A stupid and useless word that will never grace your speech. Replace with "really".
14. I'll dial you (about the call)
Where will you dial? The team of the illiterate? Do not. Better to say simply: "I'll call you."
15. My mom's
Many people say that, and it is vehemently annoying. That's right - "at my mom's", "at my friend's" and so on.
Share words and expressions that annoy you in the comments. The most awful and interesting will be in the next issue!
