How to remove and put on contact lenses correctly

When I first bought lenses, I didn't know what to do with them. More precisely, I knew, but was afraid to start. It seemed disgusting to me to thrust a foreign object into my eye. I thought it would be painful and terribly uncomfortable, although the doctor spoke about the absolute painlessness of the procedure.

In the end, it turned out that the doctor was right. Putting on and taking off contact lenses is a snap: I learned how to do it right in just two days.

What needs to be prepared

All this is easy to find in a pharmacy, optician and online stores. A lens container is often included with a cleaning solution. But you can also buy a beautiful container and storage case.

  • The lenses themselves;
  • container for lenses;
  • cleaning solution;
  • tweezers with soft silicone pads;
  • soap;
  • paper towel.

How to put on your lenses

First, wash your hands with soap and water and dry them with a disposable paper towel. Then open the container with lenses and carefully remove one with special tweezers with silicone tips.

Place the lens on the pad of your index finger or, if you have long nails, on the side of your index finger. Go to the mirror.

The first way

1. With the index finger of one hand, slightly pull back the lower eyelid to form a pocket.

2. Insert the lens into this pocket. Gently place it with the index finger of your other hand against the eyeball. At the same time, it is better to look up, so you will not blink. If it doesn't work the first time, try again until the lens reattaches.

3. Now rotate the pupil and blink until the lens is in the desired position. If it is inserted correctly, you will hardly feel it in the eye. Now put on the second one in the same way.

How to properly care for your lenses

Once removed, discard your daily lenses and place reusable lenses in a container with a solution, otherwise they will dry out.

Here are some simple grooming guidelines to follow.

  • Before placing the lens in the container, it must be cleaned of any dirt that has accumulated on it during the day. To do this, place the lens on a clean palm and pour in some special solution. Use your finger to gently rub in one direction to avoid damage. Then rinse the surface with a few more drops of the solution.
  • The solution must be poured into the container so that it completely covers the lenses.
  • Rinse the container with cleaning fluid. Then let it dry upside down on a paper towel.
  • Change the liquid in the container every day. If you do not wear your lenses for several days, check the instructions for the solution when to change it.
  • Throw away the lens container once a month and take a new one.
  • Never clean lenses or their storage containers with water, use only a lens solution.
