What you should never do at the airport: advice from a flight attendant
What you should never do at the airport: advice from a flight attendant

Flight attendant Elliott Hester (Elliott Hester) spoke about the obvious rules of conduct that passengers still break.

Joke about bombs and terrorist attacks

Isn't it ludicrous to assume that you have a bomb with you? Anyone who looks at you will immediately understand that you would never engage in terrorist attacks. So why not make a joke about it? Not worth it.

Hester spoke about a recent incident at the Los Angeles airport. One of the passengers answered in the affirmative to a standard employee's question whether he had aerosols, sharp objects or explosives with him. Then he turned to his companion and asked if he had put the explosives. The joker was arrested and charged under the article "Knowingly false information about the impending explosion."

Although the charges were later dropped from this man, you should not follow his example and joke about bombs at the airport. According to Hester, employees are required to report any such statement, even if it is understood that it is a joke.

Refuse to answer questions

Of course, all the formalities on board the plane are terribly annoying. It is unlikely that the position of the folding table will change something in the event of an accident. But the conductors are obliged to make sure that they are folded during takeoff and landing. However, for some reason, not everyone is ready to comply with this rule.

Hester collided with a passenger who responded with complete silence to requests from staff to fold a table before takeoff. He ignored all the questions from the senior flight attendant. I had to return the plane to the airport building. The guards took the stubborn passenger out, and only then did he speak.

Yes, sometimes you don't want to talk. But still, do not test the patience of the flight attendants for strength.

Attempt to carry prohibited items on board

Long lines and searches seem like a waste of time when you personally have to endure them. But they are completely justified, because a huge number of passengers are trying to smuggle prohibited items through the checkpoint.

According to US Transportation Security Administration employee Jason Pockett, the strangest thing about his job is watching people try to do it in every possible way. Most often without malice. For example, they tape the batteries to food containers. Or they hide items in dirty laundry to make it unpleasant for employees to check the bag. If you don't believe this happens, check out the TSA's Instagram.

Get drunk (and admit that you're drunk)

For some, alcohol helps them survive the flight without a nervous breakdown. But if you can't drink, stay at home. Although alcoholic beverages are sold on board, you will not be allowed to board if you are clearly drunk.

And if you say that you are an "insane" to a security officer, you may well be fined or even arrested. Don't drink too much, or at least wait until you are on board.
