How to do glitter makeup and not look vulgar

1. Do not overdo it

When doing shiny makeup, it is important not to lose your sense of proportion. Do not draw impressive arrows and paint your lips with too bright lipstick at the same time: this will make the image heavier. Limit yourself to a metallic effect lip liner, or just use some glitter instead of a highlighter.

And if you plan to focus on the eyes, instead of lipstick with sparkling particles, use a semi-matte moisturizing balm. This image will look appropriate not only at a party, but at any time of the day.

2. Don't forget about the base

Before applying glitter to your face, consider what you will be using as a base. For example, cosmetic stores sell special glitter glue. But it is quite possible to replace it with any sticky base. It can be clear lip gloss or petroleum jelly.

3. Experiment with shiny arrows

Add a shining eyeliner over the regular black arrow. Your makeup will immediately change, just do not forget about an even complexion and neat eyebrows. The latter can be simply brushed and secured with gel.

4. Focus on the center of the eyelid

Use a small flat brush or just your fingertips to apply glitter directly to the center of your moving eyelid. This technique will be enough to immediately make the eyes more expressive and draw attention to them.

5. Always use fixing spray

Be sure to fix the result with a fixing spray, especially if you have used large glitter in your makeup. Otherwise, the sequins will be in the wrong place. It also makes it easier to remove them later.

6. Pay attention to warm shades

Warm shades of glitter, such as amber, ocher-gold, brownish, can help make shimmery makeup less bright and dramatic. Just remember that such a glitter goes well with cosmetics that are close in color.

7. Moisturize your lips well

Before applying shiny lip makeup, moisturize them generously with a balm beforehand. After a while, remove the remnants of the product with a napkin, paint with lipstick and gently lay the glitter on top using pressing movements. It is not necessary to cover the lips with a generous layer, just touching a few times is enough.

If the result is not quite perfect, the excess glitter can be quickly removed with masking tape.

8. Use lipstick with a sticky finish

If you use a matte finish, the sequins will not stick to it and will fall down. Therefore, give preference to more "tenacious" creamy or glossy textures. It is better if the colors of lipstick and glitter are complementary to each other or completely coincide.
