How to pack a rectangular gift in the classic way
What do you need
- Wrapping paper;
- scissors;
- ordinary scotch tape;
- double sided tape.
How to wrap a gift
Lay out the paper and place the gift on it. On the narrow side, measure out enough paper to cover three quarters of the box.
Measure the same amount of paper from the opposite side and cut off the excess.
Place the present with the wide side on the narrow edge of the paper.
Flip it over to the side.
Then put it down and put it back on.
Measure about 5 cm from the gift and cut the paper along this line.
Turn the gift over with the side you want it to open. Place the narrow edge of the paper against the middle of the top edge and secure with regular tape. The paper should fit snugly against the box.
Glue a piece of double-sided tape to the opposite edge of the paper.
Glue this edge to the far edge of the top plane of the gift. If everything is measured correctly, the paper will fit snugly and will last just to the right place.
Now glue the sides of the gift. Fold down the top edge of the paper and secure with regular tape.
Run your fingers over the bulging paper to create crisp folds.
Fold the side of the paper into a gift and fix it.
Fold and glue the other part of the package in the same way.
Flatten the bottom edge, place double-sided tape on it and attach to the gift.
Glue the opposite side of the gift in the same way. Run your fingers along the edges of the rectangle - this will make the shape of the package more clear.
What other option is there
A square-shaped gift is wrapped in much the same way:
How to pack a rectangular gift diagonally
What do you need
- Wrapping paper;
- scissors.
How to wrap a gift
Spread the paper out on a flat surface. Place the present in the corner: the edges of the wide side should touch the edges of the paper.
Turn the gift over to its side and then lay it flat again.
Fold the opposite corner of the paper and measure a point on it about 5 cm from the corner of the gift. In the photo, the person just points to this point.
Keeping your finger on the desired point, unfold the paper and cut along the line through the mark.
Cut another line perpendicular to the first. You will end up with a square piece of paper.
Take one corner of the paper and fold it under the gift.
Then fold the right corner a little inward and fold that part of the paper. Run your fingers along the folds. The packaging should fit snugly around the gift.
Likewise, fold the opposite corner inward.
Fold this piece of paper. Run your fingers through all the folds that have formed.
Begin to fold over the rest of the packaging. Make sure that the paper does not crawl out to the sides.
Fold the paper, leaving a corner.
Fold over the top of this corner and slide your fingers over the edge of the gift.
Slide the loose piece under the corners of the paper. Look for details in the video:

In this method, scotch tape is used, but much less paper is needed than in the previous ones.
How to make a drape wrap for a rectangular gift
What do you need
- Wrapping paper;
- corrugated paper;
- scissors;
- ordinary scotch tape;
- double sided tape;
- tape - optional.
How to wrap a gift
Cut two identical large rectangular pieces of wrapping and corrugated paper. Place the wrapping paper face down, and place the crepe paper on top. Fold in the bottom, narrow edge a couple of centimeters.
Fold the same edge so that the new folded strip is two times wider than the previous one. In order not to be mistaken, watch the video instruction below. Fold this strip four more times.
Unfold the paper. You should have noticeable folds.
Turn the paper over so it is right-side up. From the middle of the bottom edge, cut a corner to the beginning of the fifth fold.
Straighten the corrugated sheet slightly to the left. Fan all the paper along the intended folds. Look for details in the video.
Turn the packaging over and tape the fan in several places.
Place the gift on paper. Fold the fan section as shown in the photo. Place the opposite side of the package on top. See how much you need to cut so that this part is hidden under the first one. Then cut off the excess.
Uncover the paper. Place the left side over the gift and secure the right side to it with double-sided tape.
Turn the gift over. On one side, fold the side edges of the paper inward.
Fold the top edge of the paper inward and cut off any excess if necessary. Glue the bottom edge with double-sided tape.
Repeat this on the other side of the gift. Tie a ribbon if desired.

How to make a striped box for a rectangular gift
What do you need
- Wrapping paper;
- scissors;
- double sided tape;
- scrapbooking paper or other decorative paper;
- ribbon.
How to wrap a gift
Cut a rectangle from the wrapping paper. For one side, measure the smallest edge of the gift six times, and then measure the largest once. The other side should be such that the paper easily covers the gift lying on it. All the details are in the video below.
Place the gift in the middle of the paper, inside out. Fold the bottom edge and use your fingers to trace the edge of the rectangle.
Then fold the top of the paper and use your fingers to mark the fold.
Glue the bottom to the top. The paper should fit snugly against the gift.
Fold a corner of the paper as shown in the photo.
Fold the rest of the corners in the same way. Place the gift seam up.
Fold the top corners towards the center.
Cut a strip from the decorative paper slightly longer than the gift and twice as narrow as it. Fold the long edges slightly and place double-sided tape on the sides.
Apply the strip horizontally to the top corners of the wrapping paper.
Fold the bottom corners of the paper forward and glue them to the strip.
Tie a ribbon around the gift.
How to wrap a gift of any shape in a paper bag
What do you need
- Wrapping paper;
- scissors;
- double sided tape.
How to wrap a gift
Lay the paper face down. Place the gift on top and fold the side of the paper. Measure out enough packaging to completely cover the gift.
Cut the paper along the marked line.
Take away the gift. Tape one edge of the paper with tape. Fold the opposite side about to the middle.
Glue the side with the tape on top.
Fold the bottom edge a few centimeters. Then unfold and fold that piece of paper along the sides to form triangles. Their middle should fall on the intended fold. See the video below for details.
Fold the top corner of the resulting shape towards the middle. Bend the bottom corner so that it slightly overlaps the top one.
Fold the edge of the bottom triangle inward. Stick it on top. Unfold the bag and place the gift in it.
Wrap the open edge of the bag twice and secure with tape.
If the gift is heavy, you should put thick cardboard at the bottom of the bag for reliability. And from above, you can make holes with a hole punch, thread a tape there and tie. Then the edge does not have to be glued.

Connect two opposite corners of the paper at the top.
Holding the top of the structure, add another corner of the paper.
And then the last corner.
Pinch the paper over the gift and flatten it on top to make the packaging look nicer.

Glue the folded edge on top so that the paper fits snugly around the gift.
Fold up one edge of the paper temporarily to place the gift straight.
Fold in the tips of the top of the paper. Take one resulting corner and fold it over to the gift.
Place paper on top as shown in the photo and video below.
