How to make a cardboard birdhouse

Keep in mind that such a birdhouse will most likely only last one season. After all, due to precipitation, the paper can soften. So don't use regular thin cardboard.

How to make a birdhouse out of boards with your own hands

Wood is the best material for a birdhouse. Such a dwelling will last more than one year and will reliably protect birds from wind and cold.

What do you need

• manual or jigsaw;
• ruler or tape measure;
• pencil;
• boards 2-3 cm thick;
• screwdriver or screwdriver;
• self-tapping screws;
• drill;
• perch;
• sanding pad or machine.

How to do

Saw four pieces of wood 30 x 20 cm and two pieces 40 x 20 cm. Cut the corners from the top of the last pieces. These will be the front and back walls.

On the front, make a hole with a diameter of 5 cm - the entrance. Attach a side wall measuring 30 x 20 cm to the front and fasten the parts with self-tapping screws. Screw the back panel and one more side panel in the same way.

Attach the two remaining pieces on top so that they protrude about 5 cm in front and 4 cm at the back. This will protect the birds from the rain. Drill a hole under the tap hole and insert a perch.

Sand the sides and roof of the birdhouse. Inside, it must remain untreated, otherwise the chicks will not be able to get out. Then cut out a suitable bottom, insert it between the walls and screw with self-tapping screws.

Attach a long stick to the back wall, for which you need to tie the birdhouse to the tree with wire or nail.

You can leave the structure as it is or decorate it.

How to make a birdhouse from a log with your own hands

Another option for a durable wooden dwelling.

• saw;
• drill;
• jigsaw;
• chisel;
• hammer;
• screwdriver or screwdriver;

Cut the top of the log to create a pitched or gable roof.

With a drill with a long drill, drill the top and bottom holes in a circle. Then cut the wood between the holes with a jigsaw. Use a hammer and chisel to remove the core from the log.
