6 performers responsible for the future of female hip-hop in Russia and the CIS

1. Aigel

"Aigel" is a duo performing daring hip-hop songs dedicated to Russian justice. The music is written by the St. Petersburg electronics engineer Ilya Baramiya, known for the SBPCh project, and the poetry from Naberezhnye Chelny, Aygel Gaisina, is responsible for the lyrics and vocals.

In 2017, her boyfriend went to jail for a fight. And this was the impetus for writing a whole album about what happens to a person who has fallen under the rink of the system.

In the same year, Aigel released their debut album, 1 190, a wicked and caustic literary rap with chased readings. And then a video for the song "Tatarin" was released, which has already collected almost 35 million views on YouTube. The main character of the video is a former prisoner who was released and goes to his beloved.

At the end of 2017, the guy Aigel was released, but the duo did not stop playing music. In 2018, the guys presented the album "Music" - already about what happens to a person who has been released. And in it, in comparison with "1 190", there are more dance compositions.

In the same year, the duo entered the line-up of the Stereoleto and Pain summer festivals.

2. On the face

"On the Face" is a solo project of the Ukrainian model Anna Zosimova, who has recently been living in Moscow. In her songs, she constantly provokes the listener and laughs at him. So, in the fall of 2017, the performer presented the song "I Don't Use", in which she ironically walked through those who are on drugs.

And then the video "In every girl" was released, where Anya reads out phrases like "In every girl there is a mother, in every girl bl ***". “Another model who decided to rap,” the haters hissed. But Zosimova's honesty wins over: vulgar and unpleasant phrases like “in working hands and lustful throats” show us that part of life that others are ashamed or afraid to talk about.

One of the notable achievements of the singer is her performance at the "Pain" festival last year. And now Anya is more DJing and recording mixes with Petar Martich from the Pasos group.

3. The theme of the cross

"The theme of the cross" is a St. Petersburg duet of two graduates of the drama faculty Sani and Ani. The project is named after the motif of the cross - the musical phrase B-A-C-H, which was invented by the composer Johann Sebastian Bach.

Through all the girls' albums, the thought of the meaninglessness and unluckiness of existence runs like a red thread - what is only the banter over the naive song "When I Become a Cat" by Masha Rzhevskaya in the track "Psoriasis".

The duo's live performances are similar to theatrical performances. The gloomy and harsh reading of Sanya and Anya is accompanied by a video sequence on which the girls are working online. For example, the screen displays their correspondence about what is happening in the hall, or walks on "Google. Maps". And from the concert, as a result, a whole theatrical performance is obtained.

4. Photosynthez

Photosynthez is a project of Katya Lukovnikova from Kazan, who recently moved to Moscow and became a co-founder of the CUT CUT CUT hairdressing salon. The performer gained fame thanks to her Instagram blog.

At first, she laid out there covers of Soviet and post-Soviet hits - for example, Alla Pugacheva and Mikhail Krug. And then she began to compose atypical and infantile compositions forgive, "ugly trousers" and "good rap". As a result, the TV channel "2 × 2" became interested in clips for these songs and began to put them in rotation.

Photosynthez tracks are recorded in a relatively simple GarageBand program and are always accompanied by the same simple lo-fi videos with a budget of 200 rubles. And if Antokha MC were a girl, then Photosynthez would probably have turned out from him, only with more minimalistic music.

5. Alyona Alyona

Until recently, Alena Savranenko worked as a teacher in her hometown of Baryshevka (Kiev region) and for almost 10 years has been composing hip-hop to old-school beats. The performer shot the same only last year.

She released the video "Ribki" and "Ribki-2" - parodies of provincial TV shows, where Alena first demonstrated her rapid-fire hip-hop. Then the video “Vidciniai” was released with gloomy views of devastation in his native province, which became the hallmark of the performer. On April 8, the audience was presented with the debut album "Cannon": the name arose because under the tracks Alena is often called a cannon.

And today Alyona Alyona is a new star of Ukrainian rap music who composes witty hip-hop. And her clear reading can be the envy of any MC.

6. Emelevskaya

Emelevskaya is a "boiling water girl" performing bold and lively pop-rap. Lema's musical career began with Internet battles as part of the "Mom's PodruGun" team together with Mozee Montana and Masha Hima.

Despite the fact that Emelevskaya has been composing rap for nine years, she presented her debut album "Kipyatok" only in 2018. Over the years, the girl has gone from a poetess and radio presenter to a worker in a strip club, while occasionally releasing feats with other rappers.

Lema does not hesitate to talk about sex, throwing phrases like "I collect rappers' members like a collector", "Undressed, I am more beautiful than them" and "I wildly wanted you in the vestibule."

At the same time, the performer, as a teenager, her parents kept her in strict conditions, did not allow her to use cosmetics, and for being 7 minutes late was put under house arrest for 7 days. And her work is a rebellion against all sorts of prohibitions and a real challenge for the Russian music industry.

In May, the long-awaited debut solo concerts of Emelevskaya will take place, where the artist will present the album "Kipyatok".
