From simple options to a realistic portrait on a Christmas tree decoration.
What you need to know for everything to work out
- The most difficult and responsible thing is contouring. If at this stage you have worked carefully, then the drawing will be at least good.
- Your result is likely to be slightly different from the original image: each has its own way of drawing.
- Do not be afraid of mistakes: pretend that it was intended.
- Techniques of execution can be changed and combined: a picture intended for felt-tip pens can be drawn with both paints and pencils, as well as combine watercolor and gouache with each other. No hard and fast rules!
How to draw a Snow Maiden with a Christmas tree with a felt-tip pen
What do you need
- A sheet of white paper;
- black felt-tip pen or marker.
How to draw
With a felt-tip pen, draw two semicircles with a straight line at the bottom. These are the eyes. Make round black pupils in them, leaving small white dots.
Add three curved eyelashes above each eye, and along the top of the brow-line. Mark the nose with a rounded checkmark, and a smile under it with smooth lines. Draw two arches over the eyebrows. It will be bangs. From it, lower straight lines on both sides to the level of the Snow Maiden's eyes. Round the left side of the face to indicate the cheek. Draw the chin with a soft corner. Leave some space for the braids on the lower right side of your face.
Draw the braid with brace-like lines. Put on the Snow Maiden a kokoshnik - a triangle on a wide, slightly curved base, decorated with patterns. Draw a rounded stroke from the edge of the kokoshnik to the face, completing the bangs on the left. Add a collar with wavy lines.
From the middle of the braid, draw an arc to the left and down, and parallel to the left of it, draw a second smaller arc. This will be the sleeve. Draw a wavy line for the cuff and add a mitten to it.
Draw the right arm by analogy with the left: two parallel arcs of the sleeve, a cuff and a mitten. Give the Snow Maiden a ball in her left hand. From the ball to the right arm, draw a line to form the upper torso.
Finish the braid as shown. The Snow Maiden's fur coat consists of two smooth lines and expands downward, where it ends with a fur trim of arched and wavy lines. Mark the toe of one boot with a smooth checkmark and the second with a conventional line.
Draw a star-shaped Christmas tree top. Please note that part of it is covered by the Snegurochka's right hand. Below, form the outlines of the tree with free lines. It consists of several tiers and expands downward.
Add balls to the tree. Color the picture if desired.

How to draw a Snow Maiden in watercolor
This method is suitable for those who already own the technique of watercolor painting.
What do you need
- Watercolor paper with a density of at least 200 g / m²;
- a draft for checking the color;
- simple pencil;
- eraser;
- set of watercolors;
- brushes for watercolors;
- a glass of water;
- palette.
How to draw
Draw an egg-like shape around the center of the sheet. This is a blank for the head. Divide it into four parts using thin, slightly rounded horizontal and vertical lines. Divide the bottom half into four more parts.
Mark where the eyes, mouth and ear will be. Draw the approximate outlines of the neck and shoulders.
Draw the eyes, eyebrows, nose and lips as shown in the picture. Correct the outline of the face: it narrows slightly near the right eye and closer to the chin.
Draw a kokoshnik for the Snow Maiden with a wide arc. Mark the border of the cap on the forehead and the bangs under it. Release the braid from under the kokoshnik in rounded lines. Add guidelines for the fur coat.
Refine the outlines of the eyes, add eyelashes. Decorate the beanie with a diamond pattern with pearls at the intersection of the lines.
Decorate the kokoshnik with an ornament, as shown below, or to your taste. Draw the pendants and beading of the cap. Check the picture again and erase unnecessary and auxiliary lines.
Paint evenly with pale yellow hair and transparent skin tone on face and neck. You can get your skin tone in a variety of ways. For example, mix red with ocher and add more water. If the resulting tone does not suit you, add brown, orange or yellow to it. Try out the options on the draft.
Apply paint to the iris of the eyes, just do not paint over entirely, but leave room for glare. Cover your lips with a semi-transparent color, also remembering to add a highlight. Create shadows on the face and neck using a less diluted skin tone. You can add a slight blush. Let the paint dry.
Draw in the eyebrows, nose and eyes, not forgetting to leave white highlights on the pupils. Add color to the lips, more eyeshadow and blush to the skin, adding volume to the face.
With a wide brush, create a non-uniform blue background around the Snow Maiden, you can add a little purple. Work the hair in brown and ocher.
Color the kokoshnik and hat as shown below. Let them dry before you proceed with styling them.
While the kokoshnik is drying, paint the coat in shades of blue and purple, leaving white space for patterns.
Work out the details of the clothes and headwear, add contours to the patterns and pendants.

How to draw a Snow Maiden with gouache on a colored background
What do you need
- Pastel paper or colored cardboard;
- a simple pencil or black felt-tip pen;
- eraser;
- gouache;
- brushes;
- palette;
- a glass of water;
- napkin.
How to draw
Draw a circle with a felt-tip pen or pencil, stepping back about a third from the top edge of the sheet. This will be the head.
Sketch round eyes with filled pupils, an inverted swoosh nose, a curved smile, hair, and a triangular kokoshnik. You can add a round blush to the cheeks.
For the fur coat, draw two smoothly diverging lines from the Snow Maiden's face. Use light waves to mark the fur in the center and along the bottom of the garment. Add two more lines from the face on the sides, representing the sleeves. Complete them with wavy trim and semicircular mittens with a protruding finger.
Draw two pairs of parallel lines from the bottom edge of the fur coat - legs. Add boots to them. Place square, dotted and striped gift boxes of different sizes side by side. Mark the horizon.
Draw the Christmas trees in the form of elongated triangles. Decorate them with balls, arched garlands, and stars on the tops.
Mix bright blue or purple gouache with white on the palette. Moisten a brush, draw paint and paint the Snow Maiden's fur coat and kokoshnik. To match the tone for the sleeves, add more blue so that the arms do not merge with the body. Draw white fur and snowflakes.
For the face, mix ocher or brown with white. Color the hair, a couple of gifts and the stars on the trees with yellow gouache, and the trees themselves - green with the addition of white. Draw the outlines first, and then paint over.
Use the same shade of green for some of the gift boxes. In pale blue, paint the snowdrifts around the Snow Maiden.
Color the mittens, legs and boots with purple. The same purple or with the addition of red paint can be used for the remaining gifts, patterns on the fur coat and kokoshnik.
Decorate Christmas trees and gifts with colorful balls and garlands. Draw the face of the Snow Maiden.
If desired, add decorative elements to the Snow Maiden's clothes, Christmas trees or gifts. Check out the ideas in the tutorial video:

How to draw a Snow Maiden with acrylic on a Christmas ball
This difficult option is suitable for advanced draftsmen.
What do you need
- Dark blue Christmas ball;
- acrylic paints;
- brushes;
- palette;
- a glass of water;
- napkin.
How to draw
Mark with light tones on the ball the approximate outlines of the face, hats and fur coats of the Snow Maiden.
Mark where the arms and fur trim of the garment will be. Add yellow color to the hair. Apply the background of the face more firmly and let the paint dry completely.
Add guidelines for the eyes. The distance between them is approximately equal to the width of one eye. With a continuous line going to the eyebrows, outline the nose. Leave a white highlight on the lower lip to make it appear more realistic.
Draw the face, gradually adding details and shadows. Don't worry if you don't manage to achieve such perfection as in the photographs - your ball will still be beautiful. Fill the background with blue paint.
Finish the face, draw the hat, sleeves and hair. Create a play of light in blue and white on the fur coat and hat. Add white highlights to the blue background.
Decorate the ball with white snowflake dots or ornament. Draw snowflakes on the Snow Maiden's fur coat.
