10. Junior

  • USA, 1994.
  • Science fiction, melodrama, comedy.
  • Duration: 109 minutes.
  • IMDb: 4, 6.

Alex and Larry are working on a new drug to reduce the risk of miscarriages. Funding for the study ends, and the scientists decide to conduct experiments on Alex himself. Before testing the drug, a fertilized egg is implanted in a man. The next day, the analysis confirms the pregnancy. Alex will have to bravely endure all the trials and find out who is the mother of his child.

This comedy hooks the viewer with an unusual plot and an excellent cast. The main role in the film is played by Arnold Schwarzenegger, whose comic potential is as strong as the dramatic one. The actor prepared for filming in a special way: he watched women in maternity wards a lot in order to truthfully portray pregnancy.

Schwarzenegger played in tandem with Danny DeVito, with whom he formed a comedy tandem (see the cult film "Gemini"). And the third among the central characters was British actress Emma Thompson.

9. Oh, mummies

Avril has great news for her parents: she is expecting a child. Everyone is happy about this, except for her infantile mother Mado. Trying to get used to the future role of a grandmother, Mado spends the night with her ex-husband. And after a while she finds out that she is also pregnant. Now mom and daughter will need to go through this difficult period together.

This comedy inevitably makes the viewer laugh, but there are also dramatic moments in the tape. The adornment of the film is played by the charming Juliette Binoche, who plays the role of the rebel Mado.

8. Plan B

  • USA, 2010.
  • Melodrama, comedy.
  • Duration: 104 minutes.
  • IMDb: 5, 4.

Zoe has always found it difficult to let anyone into her life. But, despite the failures in love, the heroine still wants to have children. To do this, she decides on artificial insemination. Soon after the procedure, Zoey meets the “same” man. And after a while the doctor informs her that IVF has worked, and now she is expecting a baby.

Plan B is a classic romantic comedy and you shouldn't expect anything deep from it. However, the film can please with a good story, a happy ending and a lot of really funny scenes. It will also be interesting for the viewer to observe how the relations of the main characters are developing, and to recognize themselves and their half in some episodes.

7. Nine months

  • USA, 1995.
  • Melodrama, comedy.
  • Duration: 103 minutes.
  • IMDb: 5, 5.

Child psychiatrist Samuel is happy with Rebecca. But at one point the course of his life changes: he finds out that his beloved is pregnant. The guy does not want children at all, but Rebecca wants to settle down and is even ready to become a single mother. Lovers are trying to solve this problem in the best way for themselves.

The tape was shot by Chris Columbus ("Home Alone", "Bicentennial Man", "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone"). Like many other works of the director, the film "Nine Months" has a light lyricism and leaves a pleasant aftertaste. Pleases the viewer and the tandem of Hugh Grant and Julianne Moore, who played the main roles.

It is interesting that this picture has a predecessor - the eponymous French comedy of 1994.

6. What to expect when expecting a baby

  • USA, 2012.
  • Drama, melodrama, comedy.
  • Duration: 110 minutes.
  • IMDb: 5, 7.

The film tells about the lives of several people going through a difficult period - pregnancy. Sports TV stars Jules and Evan decide to have a baby despite their age. The writer Wendy suffers from hormonal surges. Her father-in-law and a very young wife are expecting twins. Photographer Holly decided to adopt, and Rosie unplanned pregnancy after spontaneous sex.

The film depicts different stories, and a funny romantic comedy here intersects with drama.

The caste of the tape, which brought together many very famous actors, is truly surprising. The film stars Jennifer Lopez, Cameron Diaz, Anna Kendrick, Elizabeth Banks and other stars.

5. Where the heart is

  • USA, 2000.
  • Drama, melodrama, comedy.
  • Duration: 120 minutes.
  • IMDb: 6, 8.

Novalee is a seventeen-year-old pregnant girl who moves to California with her beloved Willie. But halfway through, the guy dumps Novali in the small town of Sequoia. The heroine only has five dollars, so she secretly lives in a supermarket. After six weeks, the girl becomes a mother, and now she needs to take care of the child in this strange town for her.

Attention in this film is worthy of the acting work of Natalie Portman, who played the role of the main character. She managed to portray the gamut of feelings experienced by everyone abandoned by a person in trouble.

The film helps viewers to believe in themselves and reminds that any problem will be within their reach if there are kind people nearby.

4. No longer children

  • USA, 2012.
  • Drama.
  • Duration: 96 minutes.
  • IMDb: 6, 8.

Rachel, 15, lives in a Mormon commune. Suddenly she discovers that she is expecting a child. The girl is sure: this is the immaculate conception. And it happened because Rachel was listening to rock music on a tape recorder. The heroine goes to Las Vegas to find the "father" of the child - the artist, whose songs were recorded on that cassette.

Not Kids Already is a tough indie movie that tells the story of growing up. It pushes the viewer into thinking about religion, cultural norms and, of course, love. The live scenery is especially beautiful in the film: the alpine landscapes are in sharp contrast to the views of Las Vegas.

3. A little pregnant

  • USA, 2007.
  • Melodrama, comedy.
  • Duration: 129 minutes.
  • IMDb: 6, 9.

Allison is making progress in her career. To celebrate the promotion, the girl goes to a nightclub, where she meets Ben, with whom she spends the night. Eight weeks later, Allison discovers that she is pregnant. The heroine contacts Ben, and they decide to be together and have a child. However, a guy needs to grow up before starting a family.

It would seem that the title of the film promises something extremely frivolous, with humor exclusively below the belt. However, director Judd Apatow (who previously released "The Forty-Year-Old Virgin") knows how not only to amuse, but also to talk about something meaningful.

Foreign and Russian critics generally praised the film, noting that it exceeded expectations.

2. On the way

  • USA, UK, 2009.
  • Drama, melodrama, comedy.
  • Duration: 98 minutes.
  • IMDb: 7, 0.

Verona and Bert are expecting their first child. The couple decides to travel to the United States and Canada to find the perfect place to live as parents. They travel to cities where their relatives and friends live. Along the way, young people are looking for a family that could become an example for them.

The director of this unusual film was Sam Mendes, whom we know from his wonderful works "American Beauty" and "1917". And the script, interestingly, was written by a married couple. This is probably why many couples recognize moments from their own lives in this film.

1. Juno

  • USA, Canada, 2007.
  • Drama, comedy.
  • Duration: 96 minutes.
  • IMDb: 7, 4.

16-year-old schoolgirl Juno got pregnant by her best friend. Rejecting the idea of abortion, she decides to give the unborn child for adoption. The girl finds a suitable married couple, but things are not going so smoothly. Mark, the future stepfather, begins to treat Juno not only as the mother of the unborn child.

This tragicomedy is the work of the American director Jason Wrightman, who later directed another sensational film about motherhood - Tully with Charlize Theron.

"Juno" is a rather difficult film from the point of view of the topic raised. Some critics argue that the tape is pro-feminist, others that the picture can be considered anti-abortion propaganda.

For its bold social overtones and excellent embodiment, the film received an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay and a nomination for Best Film.
