Life hacker exposes another conspiracy theory that has recently become very popular.
What are chemtrails and why everyone is talking about them
You've probably seen such white stripes that aircraft leave behind. One of the more common conspiracy theories is the so-called chemtrails, or chemtrails, traces of dangerous chemicals, viruses and carcinogens that are maliciously sprayed as aerosols from airplanes.
As you can see, there is no shortage of conspiracy theorists on the Web.
What are chemtrails really
These white streaks that airplanes leave are called condensation or contrails. When an aircraft burns aviation fuel during flight, it emits hot, humid air, which, when mixed with low-temperature ambient air, forms water vapor. And that condenses in the form of a strip, stretching behind the plane.
The condensation trail depends on the humidity and ambient temperature. If the air is humid, then the trace will be very noticeable, and if it is dry, then it will quickly dissipate.
Contrails are mainly composed of ice crystals, but they also contain other impurities: for example, about 0.05% sulfur compounds, as well as carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxides. They are completely harmless. And although in some especially dense air traffic corridors, due to contrails, the density of cirrus clouds increases, which in the future may affect the climate, aircraft do not cause any rains from sulfuric acid.
Why chemtrail theory is stupid
If, despite all of the above, you still believe in the spraying of coronavirus and chemicals, here are a few things to consider.
Spraying anything - chemicals or plain water - from passenger liners is not very effective, since it is unrealistic to control the spread of liquid from a height of 7-10 kilometers. That is why agricultural aviation flies much lower. And yes, the dumping of pesticides from airplanes has been almost completely banned since 2009 by the European Union. This method is only allowed in strictly limited cases.
Water vapor from condensation trails at low temperatures often turns into the most common cirrus or cirrocumulus clouds. Controlling where the wind blows them and where they rain down is impossible. And consequently, when spraying poisons from the height of flight of passenger airliners, there is a considerable risk of poisoning the wrong ones. After all, enemy states and secret world governments, for that matter, breathe the same air with us.
On the Internet, you can find a lot of photos of the interiors of passenger liners, in which instead of seats, cylinders with liquid are installed. Conspiracy theorists claim that they carry poisons, chemical warfare agents, coronavirus and other nasty things. But this is nonsense.
What you see in the photo are ballast barrels of plain water that simulate the weight of passengers. They are essential for flight tests. There are no poisons there.
Despite the fact that chemtrails are supposedly destroying and rendering sterile millions of people, the planet's population is only growing. Apparently, the pesticides are of poor quality.
A 2016 study by the Carnegie Institution of Science and the University of California, Irvine involved 77 leading atmospheric scientists and geochemists. And they did not find any evidence of a secret large-scale program of spraying toxic substances from planes.
As astronomer Carl Sagan said, extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. So far, there is simply no reason to assume the existence of chemtrails. And therefore, it is clearly not worth believing in them.
