When I try to explain how I developed my personal brand on social networks, how I built it, whether it was deliberately or spontaneously, I get lost every time. Without any coquetry: I don't know how it happened, somehow it happened. If for some reason I had to repeat this story from scratch, I would have no idea where to start and what to do.
My first hunting agency appeared at the same time I started writing on social media. So my personal brand developed on its own, in parallel with the business. I can only assume that they read me for the following reasons.
First, I write honestly. About vacancies - for example, I indicated the salary where it is not customary to do this, or details that are not spoken about. A classic example: a director of a venture fund is required, the salary is 1.5 million rubles a month. I voiced not only the salary, but also the fact that this particular employer will not take a woman for such a position and will not approve the resume of a person over forty. And I also wrote honestly about the applicants: why they are not hired for a vacancy, they are not invited for an interview, they are not called back, about some other difficulties associated with employment. This truth was often unpleasant, cut the eye, and that is why it spread across the Web and, as a result, attracted a new audience.
Secondly, I write regularly. Regularity is the second condition, which seems to be important in my case. Every morning starts with social media.
Of course, a personal brand helps a lot in business.
- First, a huge number of people come thanks to him and come personally to me. I'm not looking for clients - we don't have a sales department in our hunting agency, everyone goes there anyway.
- Secondly, my reputation, my fame is the opportunity to turn to very cool people for advice, help and recommendations. The ability to knock on any door - and it will be opened. This is great.
- Thirdly, a personal brand can be monetized; without it, it is more difficult to build a business. But there must be a product. A personal brand is good in itself, but you can monetize it only if you have a good product. I have Anti-Slavery.
But there is another side to this whole story. Yes, a personal brand helps in business, but I always put my reputation on the line.
You need to approach this process as another daily task. Make it a rule: write every day. This is a skill that is being pumped.
It seems like you can hire a producer to come up with a promotion plan, but that doesn't work. Unfortunately, investing in content production and screenwriting is not a guarantee of success. It is necessary to introduce the process of building a personal brand progressively and systematically. Personal brand is social capital, that is, you can reach out to your audience and they will help you with opinions and advice. What prevents you from building a business? Lack of money and people, and social capital is the source of both.
