In our society, the attitude towards games is condescending at best. While a person is attending kindergarten and, in the opinion of the majority, is not particularly busy with anything, play is a way to learn about the world. With the advent of social responsibilities like attending school, she suddenly becomes something inappropriate, returning sporadically to university for psychology classes and (if you're lucky) at corporate events, and only the youngest cadres are able to enjoy the games there.

Meanwhile, regardless of your age, play remains a great form of experience. While your world is very limited by your social circle and work, computer games open up a lot of opportunities to expand its boundaries. A special place among them is occupied by MMORPG - Massively multiplayer online role-playing game, characterized by the presence of an extensive game world that exists regardless of your presence in it. A world where your age, gender, appearance, and the presence of influential relatives do not objectively matter is an excellent platform for training your abilities, and how you use this opportunity depends only on you.

1. Teamwork

As tempting as the role of a lone hero in a multiplayer game may look, most actions require the help of other characters in order to successfully complete or enjoy the continuation. Just like in real life, achieving your goals is much easier for those with more social connections.

The group played in an MMO is usually several players, each of whom fulfills a role and spends a significant part of the time with the team. Whatever this role, you should know how your partner will behave in a particular situation and how you can support or strengthen him, who to help in the first place, and who can do on their own. And, of course, you must be sure that your character will not be left alone with the enemy. All this requires lengthy training, discussions, arguments, and the ability to make compromises.

2. Punctuality

Time is the only irreplaceable resource. In a gaming world where other people depend on you, punctuality is just as important as in real life.

Your inability to be ready for a raid at the designated time often jeopardizes the plans of several dozen people, especially if your role in this raid is one of the key ones. Perhaps they will wait for you, cursing and wasting precious minutes while a more organized group takes their prey, but one day they may simply replace you.

It is a mistake to think that the majority of the players are schoolchildren who have not completed their homework.

You are played by people who have found time between work, family leisure and compulsory sleep in order to rest (or who have torn it away from the designated categories). The last thing they want to do is wait for you to get ready. Therefore, the rules are simple: prepare the necessary resources in advance, do not get distracted before an important meeting and "leave" 10 minutes earlier.

3. Development of leadership qualities

The success of any gaming community directly depends on its leader. If you decide to create a guild to satisfy your political ambitions, the game will require tremendous emotional stress from you.

Often, the leaders of such guilds are adults, with a formed worldview, strong-willed, able to prioritize and competently organize a team. Do you consider yourself like that? Are you able to speak and act on behalf of the multitude of people who depend on you? Online play can be a real challenge for you, reveal your flaws or make you believe in yourself.

To gather, organize, and engage a large group of people, you must have a clear plan for how you see the community and its goals for many months to come. You need to make people believe in this plan, to whom you do not pay a salary, who do not owe you anything, whom you know at best through voice communication; to unite players of different ages, experience, social status, different intellectual levels, who are initially connected by only one thing - the desire to have a good time in the game. And here the skill from the next paragraph will come in handy.

4. Ability to understand people

When you join a team or create your own, you know very little about its members and must mainly rely on the information that they provide about themselves. Whether to trust a person or not, whether to communicate your plans, whether to allow the use of your game resources - all this you will have to decide for yourself, risking, of course, losing everything that you have shared.

You become more observant. Accidentally thrown words, manner of communication, behavior in a given situation, your intuition - everything matters.

Any action of your character in a world where there are no moral, moral and legal restrictions can be explained by the phrase "this is just a game." Be careful: there is a huge difference between the goods taken from the enemy coalition and the situation when a person plays in a team for several months, trying to be closer to the general cash register, and one day, which is far from perfect for your guild, he appropriates this cash register, hiding in the night.

Do not think that someone acted meanly, because the mechanics of the game do not punish for this, because he is now in a bad mood, a difficult period in his life, because “he was just joking,” or the victim of his meanness is to blame. A person does this only because he likes to do so, and in the game there is little that can interfere with him, and everyone decides for himself what is right and what is not.

If you are lucky, you will find people in the game with whom, perhaps, you will not have a particularly trusting and tender relationship, but who will nevertheless remain with you for a long time. It will be a team with which you can plunge into any online world, knowing that later you will not regret the time spent.

5. Planning

Even if all your time in the online game comes down to meditative fishing, you need to prepare for it. Just like in real life, juicy trout is not caught anywhere on a worm dug right on the spot.

In most cases, already at the stage of character creation, you will have to choose the direction in which he will develop, and it is better to think this over in advance.

Extraction of resources, creation of materials and equipment, construction, trade - all require careful planning, calculations and distribution of responsibilities.

Entering the game without having a plan even for the next 20 minutes will be interesting only if you are a member of a large active community, where someone else will always find something to do. If you want a little more independence, you will almost certainly have several records and tables mysterious for strangers in your organizer (and yes, you will have an organizer). And if you decide that you are ready for more and can keep the guild budget, you will definitely have something like these ().

It is no coincidence that the multiplayer game EVE Online was included in the seven points for increasing the level of intelligence, for which more than one and a half thousand users of the Quora service voted.

6. Making decisions

The game constantly presents you with choices. Depending on where you are in the online world, this choice may be meaningful only for you or for all players. Can you spend all the currency accumulated in six months of the game on unique weapons? Should you start playing with a new class, resetting almost all of your achievements in order to help your team? Which union will lead to the strengthening of your community, and which one will make the usual political map break into pieces today?

Many months or even years later, the decision to stop playing can be especially difficult, but it will have to be made if there is no more room for MMOs in your life or you no longer found worthy game goals for yourself.

Of course, gaming successes cannot replace the joy of real victories, but they can make those victories sweeter. Perhaps one day something more interesting and meaningful will begin to happen in your life. Quit games without regret and immerse yourself in a new experience! Now learn to respect your choice and use it to your advantage.
