1. Team 49: Fire Ladder

Young firefighter Jack Morrison arrives for another mission. He manages to save several people, but he himself is trapped in a burning high-rise building. While his comrades, led by the captain, are trying to figure out how to free Jack, the hero indulges in thought and recalls various events from his life.

The director invited the most courageous Hollywood stars: Joaquin Phoenix, John Travolta, Robert Patrick. To better get used to the role, the artists underwent practice in a real fire academy, and Phoenix was especially hard at training because of the fear of heights. And at the time of filming the fire in Baltimore, a real panic began. Local residents, seeing the fire, sounded the alarm and did not calm down in any way until the media reported that the flame was staged and everything was under control.

2. Lifeguard

  • USA, 2006.
  • Drama, adventure.
  • Duration: 139 minutes.
  • IMDb: 6, 9.

Legendary swimmer-rescuer Ben Randall is trying to recover from the tragic deaths of all his loved ones. The hero goes to teach at the elite school of the Coast Guard. His student is a young and daring Jake Fisher, determined to become the best and break all records.

The last work in the filmography of Andrew Davis ("Under Siege", "The Fugitive") did not like the critics, but the audience loved this movie for the emotional, sincere presentation and bright acting tandem of Kevin Costner and Ashton Kutcher.

3. Twin Towers

  • USA, 2006.
  • Thriller, drama, disaster film.
  • Duration: 129 minutes.
  • IMDb: 5, 9.

Regular police officers John McLaglin and Will Gimeno, having learned about the 9/11 terrorist attack, together with their colleagues go to the towers to help the victims. But barely manage to enter one of the buildings of the World Trade Center, as they themselves find themselves under the rubble. Meanwhile, their wives still hope that their husbands will return home safe and sound.

This film is not typical for Oliver Stone. Prior to that, he shot a rather tough and uncompromising movie ("Platoon", "Wall Street", "Natural Born Killers"). But suddenly the director relied on sincere drama and a genuine touching story.

For the main role, Stone called Nicolas Cage, and he showed himself just fine. With his characteristic expression, he showed an ordinary person in extreme circumstances. Therefore, the hero really wants to empathize.

4. And the storm burst

  • USA, 2016.
  • Drama, action, thriller, disaster film.
  • Duration: 117 minutes.
  • IMDb: 6, 8.

Boatswain Bernie Webber is about to get married. According to tradition, he first needs to get permission from the Coast Guard commander. On the day the hero is about to do this, a violent storm breaks out and two oil tankers find themselves in a difficult situation off the coast of New England. Together with a team of three volunteers, Bernie goes to help the sailors.

Craig Gillespie's imperfect yet impressive film is based on a true story. In 1952, the Pendleton tanker was torn in two by a hurricane. Many crew members managed to survive only thanks to the courage of the Coast Guard. Moreover, there were only four rescuers, and they had only one small boat at their disposal.

5. San Andreas Fault

  • USA, 2015.
  • Adventure, action, drama.
  • Duration: 114 minutes.
  • IMDb: 6, 1.

Raymond Gaines is a helicopter pilot for the Los Angeles Fire Department. When the most powerful earthquake in world history hits the city, the hero sets out on a journey to find and rescue his ex-wife and daughter.

The film is replete with large-scale action and special effects. The danger to which the heroes are exposed makes the audience nervous, because even the mighty Dwayne Johnson looks small in comparison with the raging natural elements.

6. Rescuers Malibu

  • UK, China, USA, 2017.
  • Action, comedy, crime.
  • Duration: 116 minutes.
  • IMDb: 5, 5.

Stern Mitch Buchannon commands lifeguards at a popular Florida beach. Somehow, during his morning round, he discovers packets of drugs on the sand. The hero immediately takes up the search for the smuggler. He is assisted by trainee Matt Brody, a former Olympic swimming champion sent to community service under Mitch.

The film directed by "Horrible Bosses" by Seth Gordon is based on the 1990s series of the same name, which starred Pamela Anderson (in fact, this role made her a star). Restarting is not a highly intelligent work. But if you want to turn off your head and just admire athletic actors surrounded by curvy beauties or follow the nascent friendship of two cute characters, the new "Rescuers Malibu" is fine.

Just let us warn you right away: the local humor will not please the audience with a fine mental organization. So, not too pleasant scene in the morgue will surely make many grimace.

7. The case of the brave

  • USA, 2017.
  • Biography, drama, disaster film.
  • Duration: 133 minutes.
  • IMDb: 7, 6.

New recruit Brandon McDon is joining the Granite Mountain fire brigade. Everyone wonders why the boss Eric Marsh even hired this addict and slob. But soon the firefighters will have to face one of the largest fires in the history of Arizona, and Brandon will have to win the respect of his colleagues.

The film by Joseph Kosinski (Tron: Legacy, Oblivion) is based on a true story. Prior to that, the director directed only action films, and no one expected that he would succeed in a difficult drama about heroes-rescuers. However, "Case of the Brave" received good reviews from critics and won the hearts of audiences around the world.

8. Spitak

  • Russia, Armenia, 2018.
  • Drama, thriller.
  • Duration: 98 minutes.
  • IMDb: 5, 1.

A man named Gor leaves his family and leaves Spitak for Moscow for a better life. When in 1988 a terrible earthquake occurs in Armenia, the hero returns and sees that only ruins remain of the city. But he does not lose hope that his ex-wife and daughter survived.

Before Alexander Kott, Sarik Andreasyan had already shot the film “Earthquake” about this disaster. But Spitak was made at a higher artistic level. Andreasyan focused on the disaster itself and its aftermath. And Kott rather sought to remove the everyday drama and show how the people who were touched by these events felt.

9. Fire

  • Russia, 2020.
  • Drama, action.
  • Duration: 131 minutes.
  • IMDb: 6, 5.

Alexei Sokolov is in charge of the paratrooper fire brigade. Their task is to save people in villages surrounded by forests from fire. In one of the operations, a soldier dies. Therefore, Sokolov takes his daughter's boyfriend, the cute and insolent Roma, into the team. But now the girl runs the risk of losing both her father and her lover: after all, they have to go on a suicidal mission.

"Fire" was invented by director Alexei Nuzhny ("I'm losing weight") and talented screenwriter Nikolai Kulikov. Moreover, the plot of the film has, according to the creators, a real basis. Surprisingly, for all the spectacularity, the picture was filmed with practically no special effects, and the actors ran through real fire.

10. Those who wish me death

  • Canada, USA, 2021.
  • Action, thriller, drama.
  • Duration: 100 minutes.
  • IMDb: 6, 0.

Hannah Faber worked in the forest air guard, but due to developing PTSD, she was forced to move to the fire tower as a caretaker. During the next round, the heroine meets a lost child in the thicket. His father had just been killed by professional killers: he knew too much about one high-ranking official. Now Hannah and the boy need to get out of the forest and pass the compromising evidence to journalists. But it won't be so easy to do.

Taylor Sheridan failed as an actor, but became a good screenwriter and director. So, he wrote the plots of the films "Killer" and "At any cost", and also shot the picture "Windy River" and the series "Yellowstone". “Those Who Wish Me Death” is his first work, based on a text by another author.

The main role in the film was played by Angelina Jolie. And this is one of the few pictures where you can see a woman in the image of a professional rescuer - usually men get such roles.
