If you have a ton of downloaded postcards in stock and you regularly use them in business, then this article is for you.
Holidays are personal and public. The first are birthdays, anniversaries, important events in your personal life. The second are the holidays that are celebrated by the whole country or some noticeable part of it: New Year, March 8, Teacher's Day, Airborne Forces Day and others.
How to congratulate on personal holidays
1. Congratulate only if you are sure that the event is really festive for the person. For example, divorce or retirement may not be the best way to congratulate you.
2. If you are going to write a congratulatory post on a person's wall in social networks, then make sure that this reason is not a secret for other users. For example, it is possible to publicly congratulate on an engagement, the birth of a child, or a new job only after the person himself announced this on his page. If this information has not yet become public, then it is better to congratulate only in private messages.
3. If you want to wish someone a happy birthday on his page on social networks, then check if the birthday person has published a post about his birthday. If so, then with a high probability the person expects that congratulations will be published under this post, and not on the wall.
4. Make sure your greeting is unique. The postcard from the first page of the search engine and the rhyme from the site "Congratulations for all occasions" are unlikely to please the birthday man.
Let the individual congratulations be short, but the addressee must understand for sure that you wrote this just for him. Here's how you can do it:
- to wish exactly what this person dreams of (“I wish you a role in Hollywood”);
- remember the event that connects you ("I wish you to repeat our summer adventure");
- write what you are grateful for ("Thank you for always supporting me");
- write a joke that you two can understand.
5. You don't have to congratulate everyone you have on social media. If this is not your loved one and you have nothing to say, except "Congratulations!" or "С ДР!", it is better to refrain from messages.
How to congratulate on common holidays
1. Before congratulating a person, make sure they are celebrating this holiday. For example, congratulations on religious holidays will not be relevant for atheists or people of other faiths. And congratulations on February 23 can upset the anti-militarists.
2. If you post a general congratulation on your page, then do not mark all your friends in the post. Nobody likes to be celebrated on Christmas trees or Easter eggs. At the same time, the person receives a notification about the mark and about all the comments that other users leave under the post.
3. As mentioned above, it is better to refrain from posting congratulations on other people's walls. This can be perceived as a violation of personal digital space.
4. Do not create general chats with many of your friends to congratulate everyone at the same time. People gathered in one chat will feel uncomfortable when reciprocal congratulations from strangers begin to pour in ("Happy Holidays too!") And when the participants begin to leave the conversation.
5. As in the case of personal holidays, if you send congratulations in a personal message, then make it individual. On national holidays, people send and receive dozens of messages. Therefore, if your congratulation is just a template postcard, then it will simply not be noticed or perceived as information noise.
Congratulate only those who are really important to you. If you are not ready to spend a few minutes composing an individual wish for a person, then perhaps it is not worth congratulating him at all.
