Google's fast camera app can now be installed on almost any company device.
One of the main advantages of the Google Pixel 2 smartphone is its camera, which scored 98 out of 100 in the DxOMark test. To fully appreciate it, you have to purchase a device, but some of the software features can be tested on an older phone from the Californian giant.
To do this, you need to download the modified Google Camera app. It can be installed on any Google smartphone running Android 8.0 Oreo. These devices include the Pixel and Pixel XL, as well as select phones from the Nexus series like the 6P.
Some new features work on all Pixel smartphones, and some of the features are available exclusively to Pixel 2 owners. Among the most interesting innovations are Face Retouching, which allows you to apply filters and remove blemishes from selfies, and Motion Photo, which is a variation of Live Photo on iOS. Both functions work on the first generation Pixel and Pixel XL, but AR stickers are only available on newer smartphones.
You won't be able to take advantage of any of the new features on older Nexus devices, but the camera should run faster after installing the app.
