What Far Cry New Dawn is about

Far Cry New Dawn is an open-world shooter that continues the story of Far Cry 5. The game is out on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Twenty years after the nuclear apocalypse, the people of Hope County have come to the surface and founded a community called Prosperity. But the idyll did not last long: soon the "Prosperity" was attacked by raiders led by twins Lou and Mickey.

The commune summoned post-apocalyptic expert Thomas Rush, but his train was attacked by raiders. Only the main character, the head of the security department of Rush, survived, Thomas himself and Carmina Rai, the daughter of one of the characters of the previous part.

How Far Cry New Dawn differs from previous installments

Apart from the obvious things like the changed design of the locations, there are not many significant differences. The main innovation is RPG elements.

Now enemies and weapons have levels that match each other. That is, it is best to attack an enemy of the third level with a weapon of at least the third level, otherwise the damage will be scanty.

Also, the main character in New Dawn is responsible for improving Prosperity. This requires fuel, the main source of which is the outposts, which must be captured.

By improving the base and its individual segments, the player gains access to new types of equipment and vehicles. So, updating the armory makes it possible to collect weapons of a higher level.

There is no more money in New Dawn. Crafting resources play their role. The protagonist is an expert in assembling various devices, from pistols to helicopters. To work, he needs tools like tape, springs, gears, and so on.

Thus, between story missions, the player is mostly engaged in capturing outposts (and sometimes recapturing them - they give even more fuel for it) and looking for resources on the map.

There is no sense in RPG mechanics. This is just one way to slow down the progress of Far Cry New Dawn. Those who love grinding in action RPGs might like them, but fans of the series are unlikely to. Especially considering that the hero's capabilities, which even in the fifth part were available by default (fast travel, binoculars), now need to be earned by spending skill points and improving base segments.

Other differences between New Dawn and Far Cry 5 include a new set of companions (including a wild boar named Horatio) and a sawmill, whose shells ricochet and are able to aim at enemies themselves. Otherwise, this is still the same Far Cry, only in a new wrapper and with RPG elements that look a little strange in a purebred shooter, but don't interfere too much.

How to play Far Cry New Dawn

1. Chat with the locals

NPCs marked with an exclamation mark will reveal the location of teammates, outposts, and side missions when spoken to.

2. Don't rely on stealth partners

If you like to clear outposts secretly, then most of the human companions will only bother you: they are quickly discovered. Only Nana and the Judge know how to be invisible. And animals: enemies simply do not pay attention to them.

3. Focus on the goal

As in any other Far Cry, in New Dawn it is easy to get distracted from the intended path: either a truck with fuel will pass by, or a load of resources will land nearby. Therefore, you need to focus on what exactly you want to do.

If you are trying to find resources, then you should not miss the fallen goods and the outposts encountered. If you get to the mission, then it is better not to pay attention to the madness going on around.

4. Pass the steering wheel to your partner if you do not want to drive the car

Just mark the desired point on the map and sit in the passenger seat - your partner will take you to your seat. Unless he is a dog or a wild boar, of course.

5. Use Molotov cocktails

Usually this type of equipment is not very effective in games, but in New Dawn "Molotov" copes well even with high-level enemies.

6. Complete the "Fire of Eden" mission as early as possible

It starts on an island in the middle of the map. Upon completion, you will be given a second level bow, which will greatly help in the first hours of the game.

7. Rescue civilians and complete challenges

This will help you quickly earn skill points. For each rescued from captivity, you will be given one point, and for completed tests - two or three.

8. Do not leave your partner in battle

If a follower is killed, you will have to spend resources to get him back.

9. Save the dog-partner at the beginning of the game

The dog Timber is very useful when clearing outposts - he marks enemies that are nearby. It's easy to get it: you just need to kill a couple of raiders and solve a simple puzzle.

10. Fly on an expedition

These are unique missions taking place in remote regions. They are fun, unusual, and provide a lot of resources.
