Hi, my name is Nikolay. I run the service for the delivery of purchases from the United States - shopoglot.com (reads "Shopoglot"). Surely many people use such intermediary services, or at least have heard of them.

The service works very simply: we give customers the address of our warehouse in the United States, they order goods from any American online store to this warehouse, we receive purchases and send them home to customers.

In this article I will tell you how we work with problem shipments and how we handle the delivery of such packages. Our experience will be useful to everyone who orders things from abroad, although, looking ahead, I will say that to independently resolve such issues, you need a solid reserve of strength and perseverance.

The problem we faced

We recently sent our client in Moscow a parcel packed to overflowing with all sorts of cool things. Here is a small part of what was there.

At the request of the client, we entrusted the local express delivery service with control over the travel of the parcel through the territory of Russia. The parcel arrived at the sorting center in Moscow on October 9, but until October 24, judging by the tracking, it showed no signs of life. The client regularly called the support service of the delivery operator to schedule delivery, but, unfortunately, this had no effect.

As a result, the upset client writes to us, to the Shopoglot support service. The guys from our support, alas, cannot influence the couriers and they turn to me with a request to understand the situation.

I get involved in the process of saving the package. During the week, I daily contact the support service of the delivery operator, each time calling the data of the recipient of the parcel and leaving a second request for delivery. On the other end of the line, except that my mother does not swear that the parcel will be delivered the next day after we leave one more appeal for the delivery of the parcel.

For the sake of fairness, it must be said that the support service of the delivery operator is not to blame for anything and, apparently, could not do anything. This is an outstanding example of what happens when support does not solve the client's problem, but deals with formal things and is actually not needed.

We at Shopoglot try to learn from everything that happens to us. Using this case as an example, we explained to employees that our task is to help clients and deal with their problems, and not formal unsubscriptions.

How did it all work out

It became clear to us: if we do not get through to the Minister of Communications of the Russian Federation, the matter will not get off the ground.
