10 little tricks for Telegram users

Learn how to create your own skin, exchange proxy settings, and protect your application from prying eyes.

1. Clickable stickers

To get a better look at the sticker, in the mobile version of Telegram, pinch it with your finger and wait. The picture will enlarge. You can slide your finger over the stickers without lifting it, and then the enlarged images will switch.

When words are not enough, GIFs come to the rescue. In the message set field, enter @gif, press the spacebar, add a request, and select the appropriate GIF. The search is carried out through Giphy.com, so it is better to enter the query in English.

3. Search for anything

A special command allows you to search for words and phrases in the Telegram message field through the Yandex bot. Type @ya, press the space bar and enter your search word. By clicking on one of the results, you will send the found link to the interlocutor.

4. Password protection

To protect the messenger with a password, open the settings and in the "Security" section select "Passcode". Enter a numeric code or alphabetic password. That's it, now you can't just enter your messenger. You can lock it at any time by clicking on the lock icon at the top.

5. Broadcast location

It is quite convenient to exchange geo-position in the messenger. Instead of long descriptions in response to the question "Well, where are you there?" you can send a card with a mark to your interlocutor.

If you need to indicate where you are going, you can send not coordinates, but an interactive map. The point will move with you. The location can be shared through the attachment menu (paperclip icon).

6. Forwarding messages from "Favorites"

Telegram has a handy Favorites tool. He lets you write messages to himself. You can use this function in different ways, it all depends on your imagination. Some even turn Telegram into a kind of note manager. And also "Favorites" can be used to write draft messages. Just send the text to yourself and then forward it to someone else. At the same time, the message will look as if you yourself wrote it to the addressee, and did not forward it.

7. Exchange proxy settings

If you have a good working proxy, you can share it by sending it to friends. To do this, open “Settings” → “Data and disk” → “Proxy settings”, select the required server and click on the round icon next to it. After that, you can click "Share" and send the data via Telegram or any other application. Your interlocutor will be able to connect a proxy with one click.

8. Creating your own themes

Everyone is used to the fact that Telegram is blue. But this can be changed - however, only in the Android version. Go to settings, open the "Theme" menu and tap "Create a new theme". You can choose any color for different interface elements.

9. Using multiple accounts

Telegram for Android allows you to use multiple accounts in one client. To try this feature, open the sidebar and click on "Add account". Enter the required information and you can switch between accounts via the sidebar.

10. Automatic night mode

Those who love texting at night will appreciate the night mode built into Telegram. Open the theme settings and select "Customize night theme". Here you can set a schedule according to which Telegram will automatically change the daytime theme to the nighttime theme and vice versa.
