Archaeological expedition, Crimea

Would you like to touch the history, help famous scientists and at the same time enjoy the sea and the sun? Yes, it is possible: you just need to become a member of the archaeological expedition of the Russian Academy of Sciences, within the framework of which excavations of the Kyz-Aul necropolis (Kerch Peninsula, Cimmeria camp) will be carried out.

The program is designed for two months and starts on July 1, but you can come not for all the time, but at least for a week. The leaders are renowned archaeologists who will help beginners learn the basics of the excavation process. In addition, volunteers will receive educational courses in archeology and history.

The main requirement is endurance. Accommodation for volunteers is an equipped campground with refrigerators, toilets, showers, sports grounds, and so on. For the everyday needs of the camp, you will have to pay 500 rubles a day.

There is an opportunity to independently settle near the excavation site, and then participation in the program will be absolutely free.

Work in the Alania National Park, North Ossetia

Anyone can become a volunteer, the main thing is love for nature and a desire to help. Volunteers clean the park, collect field materials for research workers, implement design projects, take photos and videos, and much more.

Food and accommodation are free.

The most relevant program: from June 1 to July 30, the camp is looking for volunteers to develop landscape elements (viewing platforms, gazebos, picnic areas). Also need help with documentation.

Work in the Kronotsky Nature Reserve, Kamchatka

Have you ever dreamed of seeing Kamchatka reserves and volcanoes live, up close, and not just as a participant in an excursion, during which you cannot step away from the guide? Then this is the place for you!

The volunteers' tasks are about the same as in the program from the Alania National Park, but the conditions are slightly different: only the way to the reserve is paid, housing is provided, but you will have to provide yourself with food.

The main rules: you can be a volunteer only after 18 years old, you need to spend at least three weeks in the reserve.

Restoration of agriculture at Valaam Monastery, Karelia

The Volunteer to Valaam program consists of three-week summer-autumn camps for both Russians and foreigners. The goal is to restore the agriculture of the Valaam Spaso-Preobrazhensky Monastery.

Anyone between the ages of 18 and 60 can become volunteers, the main thing is good physical fitness. You can sign up for only one race, but it is possible to extend the program if there is positive feedback from managers and free places.

Almost everything is provided to volunteers free of charge: excursions, meals, accommodation.

As such, there is no deadline, because the recruitment will stop only when all the seats are taken.

Work in the international camp on Baikal, Irkutsk region

You can go to this camp as a volunteer, teacher or instructor in yoga, dancing, rock climbing, surfing, painting, music. And there is also the opportunity to take part in scientific expeditions. Knowledge of English is a must, because it is the main language of the camp.

The camp is open from April to October 2016, you can come at any time and for any period, having agreed in advance with the organizers. Meals and accommodation are provided, you just need to get to Irkutsk at your own expense.

Work in the national park "Curonian Spit", Kaliningrad region

The Curonian Spit National Park is located on the border of Lithuania and the Kaliningrad region on a narrow strip of land next to the Baltic Sea.

Volunteers are engaged in the preservation, reconstruction, restoration of dunes, weaving fascines, landscaping tourist sites, organizing museums, ecological trails, conducting thematic excursions and much more.

The program that interests us is called “Let's Help the Curonian Spit Together”. The recruitment takes place constantly, the main condition is to have time to submit an application: the camp accepts no more than 500 volunteers per month. Free excursions are organized for the most active volunteers.

Plant care in the Gorno-Altai Botanical Garden, Altai Republic

In the botanical garden there are expositions with plants of the Altai Mountains, Europe, North America and the Far East. For five hours a day, volunteers will learn the basics of botany and work with plants, weed exhibits, and take care of them.

In 2016, three groups of 10 people are recruited: from 15 to 25 June, from 20 to 30 July and from 10 to 20 August. The volunteer pays for travel and 1,000 rubles of the registration fee. Accommodation and meals are free.

Work as a guide in the Polistovsky Reserve, Pskov Region

The main tasks of the volunteers are to conduct excursions and help the reserve staff in their chores.

There are several shifts: from May 2 to 22, from May 16 to June 5, from May 30 to June 19, from June 13 to July 3, from June 27 to July 17, from July 11 to 31, from July 25 to August 14 … Minimum check-in time is three weeks.

Main requirements: basic knowledge of biology (botany, zoology, ornithology), geography, the ability to speak beautifully. Accommodation in a hotel with all the amenities is paid for by the reserve. But the volunteer pays for food and travel.

Volunteers can visit the reserve for free and participate in workshops on traditional crafts.

There are other programs: geobotanical descriptions, work in eco-camps, and so on.

Work in the reserve "Nurgush", Kirov region

Reserve "Nurgush" is ready to accept volunteers from 5 to 14 August. Their main task will be to design an ethnic glade. It is planned to create a temple, a swing, a dugout, a well, as well as the embodiment of other interesting ideas.

Travel and accommodation are paid by the volunteers themselves. The host side is ready to encourage volunteers with letters of thanks, souvenirs with the symbols of the reserve, as well as organize swimming for them on the lakes and free excursions, including on bicycles.

Agritourism in the Chistoye Nebo settlement, Pskov region

This program offers farm work in exchange for shelter, food, experience, friendly company, and outdoor recreation. There are many areas of application for volunteer power: caring for vegetable gardens, animals in nurseries, building capsule modules, pens and chicken coops, clearing the forest. The main requirement for volunteers is hard work.

For three years in a row, volunteers have come here in June from different parts of Russia and other countries, for example, from the USA, England, France, Colombia, Thailand.
