I have been reading LifeHacker. Ru for a long time and with pleasure, but now I decided to also make a small contribution and share one interesting find.

The find is called Workrave. It is a program that helps you avoid the onset of diseases caused by long-term repetitive strain injury, such as carpal tunnel syndrome. The app reminds you to take breaks from the computer from time to time and can block input and the screen.

Workrave is free and licensed under the GNU / GPL license and runs on Linux and Windows.

Fedora users can install Workrave with the command:

yum install workrave

Features of the program:

  • Micro-breaks: short breaks of 30 seconds every few minutes.
  • Take five minute breaks to do physical activity (usually once an hour).
  • The maximum limit for working at the computer.
  • Exercise: Picture Tests.
  • Statistics: a calendar with statistics on mouse and keyboard usage, as well as the number of breaks taken.
  • GNOME applet
  • Networking capabilities: simultaneous work on several computers, for example, on a laptop and on a stationary computer.
  • The program has been translated into several languages (including Russian).

All the best, be healthy!
