In addition to phone numbers, WhatsApp will also collect the following data:

  • Operating system type.
  • Screen resolution.
  • Telecommunications operator.
  • Device identifier.
  • Application usage frequency.
  • Country phone code.

But besides this information, WhatsApp may send other indicators that the company does not specify.

How to opt out of sending data

WhatsApp reasonably considered that not all users would agree to share their personal information, so they provided an option to opt out of sharing the collected data with Facebook. If you are already registered with WhatsApp, there are two ways for you to disable this tracking feature.

The next time you launch the application, you will be greeted with a screen with an updated section "Terms and Privacy Policy". Take your time to accept the terms, but click on the "Read" link.
