5 ways to organize a magical New Year for your child

Try to diversify the usual scenario of the holiday in order to please the children and enjoy yourself.

At first glance, the New Year is a magical holiday in itself, especially for a child. There is a Christmas tree decoration, and flashlights flickering in the dark, and waiting for Santa Claus with the Snow Maiden, and gifts that miraculously appear in the morning.

But if you repeat the same scenario every year - decorate the Christmas tree, eat up goodies, clink glasses to the chimes, go to bed, wake up and unfold the gifts, the holiday eventually loses its magic. And it becomes a boring routine for both adults and children.

But there are a few easy-to-implement ideas that the child will like and add a pinch of magic to the New Year.

1. Start an Advent calendar

It came from Catholic countries, where it was originally conceived as an attribute of anticipating Christmas. In the Russian-speaking space, it is also called the New Year's waiting calendar. But the essence does not change: starting from December 1, the child completes simple tasks or guesses riddles, usually associated with preparing for the holiday, and receives small gifts, such as sweets. This helps both children and adults to create a cheerful mood and feel the atmosphere of an approaching fairy tale.

Advent calendars can look different.

• The easiest option is to draw or print a stylized calendar for December and cross out the next date or stick stickers every day. It is even easier to buy a ready-made set of chocolates in the store, each of which is in its own cell.
• A more interesting option is to order or make yourself a set of bags on a string or wooden drawers. Put tasks, wishes or gifts in them and open them every day with your child.

In general, the Advent calendar opens up a lot of room for imagination. Here are a few more ideas on how to do it:

• hang beautifully designed kraft paper bags on the wall;
• buy and arrange many small houses illuminated with a garland;
• order or sew a canvas with pockets;
• attach tasks and candies directly to the Christmas balls.

And here are the options for what you can put in the calendar cells:

• Kinder Surprise;
• candy;
• small toy;
• details of a large New Year's puzzle, which can then be put together;
• riddles;
• wishes;
• tasks, for example, draw Santa Claus, learn a New Year's poem, bake cookies with parents, make a Christmas tree toy.

In short, it all depends on your imagination. If you don't have time to come up with ideas, you can search for ideas on the Internet or order a completely finished and filled calendar.

2. Send a letter on behalf of Santa Claus

Everyone is used to the letter being sent by a child who talks about how the year has passed and asks for gifts. But it will be a real miracle if Santa Claus himself writes a personal message to the child and leaves it under the tree along with gifts or drops it into the mailbox.

Of course, parents will have to be in the role of Santa Claus. Pick up beautiful paper and colored pens, on behalf of the wizard, wish the child a Happy New Year, praise for their successes and wish something good. Decorate the letter and envelope, for example, draw snowflakes or use sequins, rhinestones, pretty stickers, artificial snow. For a child to receive such a message will be a magical and unforgettable experience.

To simplify your task, compose a letter on a beautiful background in a graphic editor and print it on a printer or order a ready-made version in one of the services that provide such a service.

3. "Build" a gingerbread house

This is not only a delicious and unusual dessert, but also a fabulous element of the New Year's decor. It is not necessary to bake gingerbread. You can buy a ready-made set, which already contains all the details of an edible house: walls, windows, sweets and gummies for decoration, powdered sugar.

All that remains is to prepare the icing or caramel and combine all the elements. You can put a small electric candle inside the house, then it will look absolutely magical.

4. Leave traces of Santa Claus

If the child still believes in Santa Claus, he will be very surprised and delighted to see evidence that it was the wizard who put the gifts under the tree. For example, "snow" footprints on the floor may indicate this.

Make stencils in the form of shoe prints from sheets of paper, take a can of artificial snow and draw footprints from, say, the front door to the Christmas tree. Thanks to this, New Year's morning will become even more magical for the child.

Flour or starch will also work instead of snow. You will need to dip your shoes in them and leave them on the floor.

5. Arrange a New Year's quest

A great way to keep your child busy at home and add a little more joy and mischief to the holiday. Let the children briefly turn into treasure hunters and solve riddles and puzzles to find out where the gifts are hidden.

It is not necessary to come up with a long, difficult and confusing quest, develop a script and prepare props for many days (although if you want, then why not). You can limit yourself to a very simple and compact option:

1. Prepare riddles, carefully hide them right on the tree, behind the toys.
2. Guide your child by helping him move from one question to the next.

For example, the answer to the first riddle is "Home", which means that a new clue is hidden behind a toy in the shape of a house. Children read the puzzle, solve it and, having received the answer - say, "Rabbit" - move on to the next toy. And so several times, until the final puzzle clarifies where the gift is.

By the same principle, you can spread out hint notes throughout the house, plot or yard. The adventure is fun and exciting. For more complex and intricate quests, try to find free scripts on the Internet or invite animators to come up with and organize everything.
