Google Assistant is a smart personal assistant that was introduced back on May 18, 2016. It combines the functions of a personal information system, organizer and voice control of gadgets. Until recently, it was only available to owners of Google Home, Android Wear watches and Google Pixel smartphones.

Google today announced that almost all new devices will now have Google Assistant in firmware by default. For the rest of the gadgets running Android 6 and 7, the smart assistant will be distributed as an update to Google Play Services.

According to the company's blog, English-speaking users in the US, UK, Canada and Australia will be the first to download this update. A German version for residents of Germany will follow. More and more languages and countries will be added to this list throughout the year. We hope that the Russian version will not be long in coming (hello, Cortana!).

The company's goal is to gradually roll out Google Assistant to all Android devices. Therefore, after the assistants for smart watches and phones, versions for TVs and cars should appear.
