Probably all Apple users know that there are tabs in the macOS file manager. Just press Command + T in the Finder window. Alternatively, right-click with the Alt key pressed on any folder and select the "Open in a new tab" option.

But macOS Mojave has a couple of cool new features that make Finder tabs a little cooler.

Try opening multiple tabs or click Window โ†’ Merge All Windows. And, when there are so many tabs in front of you that you can get confused in them, press the key combination Command + Shift + \. Or choose View โ†’ Show All Tabs. They will appear as thumbnails, like this:

You will be able to easily distinguish between them and find the ones that you need. In fact, this is an analogue of Mission Control, which you launch by swiping the trackpad with three fingers, only not for applications, but for tabs in the Finder. The exact same feature has been in Safari for a long time: click View โ†’ Show Tabs Overview.

Another new feature introduced in macOS Mojave is the ability to pin the tab bar so it's always visible. You can open new tabs at any time without wandering around the menu and using keyboard shortcuts - just by clicking on the button with the + sign.

To show the tab bar, open a Finder window and press Command + Shift + T. Pressing the same combination again hides the bar.

When the panel is active, you can not only move tabs within the same Finder window, but also drag and drop them between different windows, just like in Safari.
